Morning all

Just back in the last few days from great trip around Normandy and Brittany. We all know what it's like driving and wondering if that is a new noise or maybe always been there, just normal transmission noises, tyres etc. So, am I hearing a failing wheel bearing?

I'm hearing some whining noise mostly at about 50mph, it fads out at 60 to 65mph. Road surface not making any difference neither does turning left or right.

You sit right over the transmission and wheels so am I just picking up whats to be expected noises. Never having been in another similar vehicle I don't know.

I've had a few go in the Hymer and while driving I've not really heard any of them. Though Siân has diagnosed failing bearings a couple of times while sat in back.

Cheers Jim, it's in for MOT and service soon so no doubt I'll find out soon enough!

Front wheel bearing failing is common on Ducato...
My 2005 model had to have 2 fitted in the 5 years i had it..

i cant make up my mind if i have a bearing going or not, i have jacked it up and found no play and turns with no problem but then sometimes it seems a little noisy, this is on the front off side. Ducato 2004

You sound the same as me Steve, I'm not sure if it's just the kind of transmission noise one should expect on a commercial vehicle chassis.
