Hi all this is on behalf of my brother he has a 2010 Renault Devon conversion which has standard wheel and tires 225/65/16. He needs some new tires so he has decided to get some alloy wheels at the same time he has found a couple of sets but the tires that fit them are either 205/65/16 or the other set takes 215/65/16. My question is has anyone swapped for this sized tires the 205 is quite a drop in width so has anyone dropped to these width sizes and what has it done to the overall drive, fuel and so on.

Thanks

I think id be more worried about the handling and stability more than anything👍

I wouldn’t be dropping size to be honest. I went up in mine (215 to 225). But make sure the wheels, and tyres are the correct or above weight rating for the van.

Not a change to be recommended, a lot of alloy wheels are intended for the fashion car market, ensure the ones he chooses are suitable for the plated weight of his van.
The drop in tyre size will definitely carry a reduced weight loading be sure that the suggested changes keep the van legal

I had a look at it for him and as it’s a pvc from what I can see standard alloys for that van will be fine the ones he‘s looking at are Fox racing Opus which are for the Renault van and Fox is a good brand
the tires will then be either Continental van contact eco or Michelin agilis cross climate both are very good tires but with a 65 height to match the height of the ones coming off you can only get a 215.
The tires on my new Niesmann are the agilis but because their a 75 profile they come in a 225.
Thanks
