Peugeot boxer PVC Autocruise Jazz, thinking of uprating electrics, solar and 2 new batteries. Anyone know what this connector is for please? Before someone comments on my ignorance - yes I will get professional installers to do it.

Looks like the fuse off your battery to me, red cable from battery and brown goes off to consumers.

Thanks for the quick responses! Golly, that was what I was hoping. Bob, yes it does look like a big fuse. And funfair, it looks like a fuse, but also a connector. The cables come off the battery red and black, but split ( see top corner) and change to red and brown?
I am hoping someone with the same system will know.

Don't worry about the black that is the negative off the battery and just goes off and does it's own thing, it's only the positive "red" that goes through that connector/fuse and turns to "brown" after the fuse, yes possibly it could be a connector as well for a second battery but not sure and not convinced that anybody fitting another battery would use it other than for it's current use, as a fuse.

Thanks funfair, suspect you are right, it has been positioned to be easily seen, with a transparent cover, and it’s secured in the wrong place to connect a second battery. It’s size threw me. Ed

You could try removing the fuse and see what doesn't work.

Its either the main battery fuse, coming FROM the battery, if you pull it none of your 12v systems will workin the van
or
Its the main charge fuse going TO the battery probably from the alternator charge setup when the engine is running, if you pull it your 12 electrics will work, but the charge to the battery will stop, you can test this by adding a volt meter to the battery and see it drop with no fuse inline, OR you will have a light or monitor in the cab for the charge indication or lack of !

by the look of it Id say its the power coming from the batteries.

That’s twice now! While it’s true that Martin invariably displays a balanced outlook, he’s much more stylish than that. 😉😎

OOPS. I am sorry, but smiling at the same time! How did I miss that - another Ed Scratcher.

Thanks again to all who replied, think I’ll just leave it alone until something goes wrong. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I have exactly the same fuse and holder with brown and red cables on my Autocruise Rhythm and , as suggested , it is the main fuse for the leisure battery .

Thanks GeoffnDee, just what I was hoping to hear!

Makes it marginally easier to get to the main leisure battery protecting fuse I guess?
