Title says it all...
You bought a van... you sold it to get another..

How long did it take? How long did you own the van for

11 months……

(bought a ‘cheap’ van to try, enjoyed the Motorhome life, so sold it to get a larger and more suitable ‘van….)

Just under 3 years, didn't intend to change but with a trade in not much less than what we paid for it & 20% of a factory order on the new one it was a no brainer.

Our first van we kept 5 months until mum got a bit confident of driving it and her eyes were on upgrading, Have to say her eyes are always bigger, nothings changed and she would change every 2 yrs If i agreed.::bigsmile:

I bought an old 1958 Bedford CA Dormobile when I was 18 for lads weekends away over the summer of 1974 and sold it on when the weather started to turn, so about 6 months.

Bought our first van on August Bank Holiday and were in Spain the December. On the first site looking around I realised we bought the wrong van so changed it after 11 months.

As you know Paul, we had our Hymer a long time, ie, 14 x years and 7 x months. Bought in May 2005, and sold in Dec 2019.

The Flair was bought before we sold the Hymer, so technically, we owned 2 x MHs in Dec 2019, ie, one in storage, and one on the drive. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

It’s not all about length, apparently 😁

But 7.6m just didn’t do it for us 👍

8.2m and just about 8.2 years for our current MH 👍

1st van - 3 months - bought from Brownhills. They took it back as they sold it with the factory chassis upgrade only to discover it hadn't been done so payload was negative. Would probably have still owned it but for that
2nd van - 10 years

Six months sold it back to dealer at a £1000 loss. It had many faults that I had intended to fix, saw a trade in and decided to go for that, which so far has been a great choice.
The faults - major welding needed on engine sub frame, minor welding on off side front cab floor, front and rear suspension overhaul bushes and shocks and probably springs, spongy floor in kitchen area, clutch renewal, exhaust front pipe and a complete brake reline.

We kept our first van for 9 months. Bessacarr that we got rid of after we heard water sloshing around inside the cab skins

In the 'summer of love' 1967 bought an old split-screen VW from an Aussie along the Southbank in London, bummed around France for a few weeks, and sold it again, on the Sunday I returned, along the Southbank again!

2 years. 2004 Bought a Knaus 708g which we liked but really wanted and bought a Burstner A747 which was a very similar layout but a metre longer so that’s what we eventually got.

2006 bought the Burstner and had that for just over 15 almost trouble free years apart from normal wear and tear items.

Recently sold the Burstner and now have a Rapido 855F which we are more than happy with. Will be very happy if the Rapido is half as good as the Burstner was to us.

Similar here. We had no intention of changing for another couple of years but the deal on a new one at a show was too good - and it was almost our absolutely ideal lay out. There is always an "almost".

Our next van (should there be one) will be for something very like we have now in the living section but with a lower bed or longitudinal beds at the back. I am just getting a bit too creaky to climb in and out as easily. Given the last couple of years with the only real use of the van being for emergency accommodation we may even sell and not replace as there maybe some bad memories - but then I also want to travel more in Europe once the home situation improves. Cycling the Moselle remains an ambition - as does Edinburgh to Inverness.

Come on then, you can’t just leave that story untold.
Picked up a brand new PVC, drove off the forecourt and got onto the motorway. 50 miles into the drive the engine failed and we crawled off the motorway. Van put onto a trailer about 6 hours later and taken to a Fiat garage. That was the last time we saw it. Asked the dealer for a refund and they oblige. We’re currently into a long long wait for another van.
