I think I must hold the record? Just spent more than £500 on a single mirror and arm. I've been driving wide vehicles for years and never had a mirror clipped, but late last year some numpty in a white van while gawking at our van crossed the line and we hit mirrors. Got a replacement today, lets hope its the last one ever! :fingers crossed:

many many years! since I was a kid
I know somebody who was quoted well over £1000 to replace a coach style mirror on an A class motorhome. We found a very similar replacement for about £300. Not an exact match but looks correct

Daren't even ask what mine would me, not that its very special but if a headlight is £1500, cant see a colour coded mirror being any cheaper than that :(

I recently had to paint a mirror cover for a car, fancy jobbie although I can't remember what brand, the poor owner had had his knocked off and it had broken. Naturally it was heated but the car had some form of individual driver setting for the seat and mirrors, all very well but at £950 to replace I bet he regretted ticking that option.

Maybe not for the FIAT/Pugeot one, I remember a post on here where somebody was charged over a grand for replacing one for an insurance claim. You can normally pick one up for less than £200. Surely that would affect your premium???

Once you make a claim you have to declare it when renewing on all vehicles, not just the one you make a claim for.

If you just had the MH and maybe one car it would probably be worth claiming, if you have multiple vehicles and every premium is going to be affected for several years it's something you'd have to take a close look at.

This is my 'spare' passenger side mirror I carry around Europe, consisting of two previous mirrors combined together with major surgery o_O If I ever have to use it I'll find some matt black paint ;)

Once again the insurance companies have us by the nuts. We pay all this money out every year but woah beside you should you want to make a claim. Bastards and robbing are just two words that spring to mind.

Indeed, I was told even informing my house insurance company of a possible claim for a lost ring may affect my premiums, luckily we found it :Eeek:

For those worried about making a claim for a not high value item and the possible increased premium on renewal, I recommend you enquire about increasing the excess to see if the pemium would be lower. Effectively self-insuring for the first thousand or two. Just remember to put the premium saved aside in case.;)

I quoted a lady £200 to repair a scrape to her car, she said she would get back to me, in due course we booked it in and carried out the repair. Some time later she called me and bitched about her insurance company, she had asked them what her excess was before asking me to repair the car. They recorded the incident when all she wanted was advice, then at renewal jacked the price up, bastids.

I bought one of those to help backing my van into the drive. HOWEVER it wobbles and the lens is made from a fairground mirror, distorts everything. It is coming off again pity about the holes.
