Hi all,

Just clarification needed just in case I’ve missed summit.

MoHo is weighed at 4005KG
Car going on A frame is 1554KG
MoHo is Fiat Ducato Autocruise Star Blazer XL 3.0L

No info on towing capacity on V5 so plate says as below.

So is it ok to tow the above?

Owe I have a C and C1 categories before anyone asks.

Ps,
Post the plate up ASAP just waiting on the post man don’t want to miss him lol.

I’ll post that up when I look at the plate but I’m waiting on the post man just wanted the thread posted up ready.

The plate on the van will have the Gross Train Weight.
Something like this.

Just found this on net but will check plate.

2009 Fiat DUCATO braked* towing capacity starts from 2500kg.

I think I'm correct, but I'm sure some motorhomes are not able to tow anything. This being due to having extended chassis extensions which are not designed for the stress of a towbar... In this case there will be no GTW shown on the converter's plate.

I’ll check plate later, hence question first A frame later.

The train weight is the important figure, although you must not exceed the towing capacity, this will must likely be limited by the train weight.

Given that most MH are near their own gross vehicle weight the towing weight is the train weight minus the gross vehicle weight.

In the example above, although this is not your van, I would not two anything more than 1250KG

If this is correct then getting an A Frame fitted to a Citroen DS3 that weighs 1554KG is not a good idea ?.

Without the a frame you would already be 59 kg over gross train? just realised that’s not your plate but you get the drift? Don’t you??

Also the weight of the car is one thing but is the front frame of the car up to being pulled and is there a converter which makes reinforcements for it, as it might need type approval.

Didn’t think about adding all that but the company whom I’m in contact with says their A Frame weighs less than 20KG.

I’ll post up the plate ASAP and the tow bar as well.

The company I was going to use is http://towtal.co.uk/a-frames/

That's a van & nothing to do with a mH

That is the plate BEFORE it was converted. There should be another weight plate or plastic sticker from Autocruise. Which will have a lower max train weight

20 kg refers to the bit you lift on and off the vehicle it does not include all the gubbins permanently fixed to the tow car

I think you will find that the autocruise star range were built on an Alko chassis. You should have an additional Alko Vin plate somewhere

This one is on a Fiat chassis, not AlKo, but there should certainly be another vin plate.

Looked inside doors, floor area inside glove box and under bonnet no extra plate.

Anyone with ideas where it may be?

I have just checked the specifications for a 2007 Starblazer and it has a 3500 GVW. What year is yours and what details are shown on the V5 document?
