Dear assembled masses,

I've just bought three Genuine Hella sockets for Udo to wire up in his garage, as below.

Broken Link Removed

I'm no electrician, so kindly ask how one would best wire these up?

Is it a direct wire from the leisure batteries (Udo has two) or is it better coming from elsewhere?

My instinct tells me to wire from the batteries with an inline fuse and maybe an inline switch per socket.

What cable type do I need?

Any advice, pointers and general guidance most welcome. :thumb:

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I intend to fit a couple of these direct from my Solar, the auxiliary outlets. So with an inline fuse, both wires from the controller to suitable locations for running my Endless breeze fan particularly, and charging lappie and Kindles. I will leave the TV one as it has its' own socket(ciggy type, don't really like them).

Wiring them direct from the leisure batteries is fine, though?

Si, wire them directly to your shunt. That way you can see what each item is pulling and also the state of charge. You have a superior MH so stop fooling around wiring things to batteries :ROFLMAO:.

Ok, back to basics. What's a shunt? And where is it?

Either in the garage where all the wiring is or under the bunk. More than likely in the garage. Take the cover off the power station and you will see a thick curly wire with positive and negative on it. All the wiring will go through this shunt to give you the display on your Votronic battery display. Whatever you fit 12 volt wise must go through that shunt.

Dave, I'm assuming it's the light grey box on the right of the photo?
