Hi, we did that last year, we didn't like the look of it, and were pleased to get past it ( very built up, and not very inviting )

Around the "Vieux Port" is quite pretty.....

However, Marseille has one of the highest crime rates in France. Many years ago we had our locked car broken into, and our stuff stolen during the 10 minutes we were checking into a hotel.

We changed hotels to another on the "Vieux Port" with a secure garage car park underneath and then watched open drug dealing on the seafront from our balcony for the next couple of nights..

This year we just drove straight through as we came along the South coast. If I were to visit again I would park up well outside and come in on the train for the day.

I think exactly the same !! There are nice places but you have to be from Marseilles to know them!
My auntie has lived there for ages and I would not go out in town without her!

A motorhome is a very easy target for "them"!

I would park my motorhome in a nice campsite 4 stars with gards (lol) in the outskirts and take the bus to go for a visit:thumb:... with money in a special belt
