Hi everyone
Just wondering what was your trip in a motorhome ,we get our motorhome on Wednesday ,so we are planning a few short trips in it to try and get used to everything
Thanks Bob

We went to the New Forest, Setthorns I think, did lots of stuff wrong but we were able to laugh about it. Absolutely love getting away now, off to pick up the MH in about an hour for a trip to the Isle of Wight 😃

We picked up our first motorhome from the factory and I drove it through the rush hour traffic and over the Auckland Harbour Bridge to Whangarei - a total of about 5 hours. I hadn’t even got an NZ driving licence at the time and barely knew the Road Code. We had only been in the country two weeks and the motorhome was to be our home for the first year of our new life down-under. They were exciting times. Twenty three years ago this month.

27th December 1999, up to Dingwall and then to Inverness for an outside New Year’s Eve concert. Yes, outside in Inverness in December!

Van had been delivered by dealers on a very snowy Christmas Eve and abandoned by them on our very steep drive.

Before we bought a motorhome we hired an RV in the US and did a three week scenic trip from San Francisco ending in Los Angeles seeing sights such as Alcatraz, G Gate bridge, Lake Tahoe, Hoover Dam , Grand Canyon , Death Valley, Yosemite etc
Enjoyed it so much that we bought our first RV when we returned home.

2 nights in the New Forest to make sure everything worked, then off to the Baltic coast but the weather was iffy so turned right at Belgium and ended up in Slovenia.

Overnight Ross on Wye bring it home the day I bought it. Does it count

A week in Skegness. I remember feeling a bit embarrassed turning up in a brand new van, 🤔 it's as if I were preempting people's envy, which may not have even existed🤔🤔 anyway that's enough thinking for today. It's 7 years old now so you wouldn't look twice at it 😎👌👍

Ours was to Highlands End in our Autosleeper Symbol.

I had to laugh seeing your spelling mistake. It reminded me of a very embarrassing moment many years ago when I was sitting in reception at the GP surgery where I worked. It was a peculiarly quiet afternoon so between signing prescriptions and chatting , I was googling holidays and accidentally googled Fist choice instead of First Choice. Certainly made my eyes water! Just as well I was one of the partners and it was before the days of any tracking software from CCGs...

You have claimed medical research ;)

First trip was to a hen night in Blackpool, mate and I slept in my van on someones drive, that would be 1987, it's been downhill all the way since then ;)
First tripwith john was to France in the winter with only 2L bottle of water empty tank and water cut off at the aire we went to, that was a steep learning curve, but we still look back on it and laugh.

Straight from the dealer Marquis near Plymouth to the CMC site at Tintagel in the snow! Just trying to think what we did with the car that we used to get to the dealer, must have gone back through Plymouth and dropped ot off at daughter’s house.

We had camper vans between 1985 and 1997.

Our first Motorhome trip was in about 1993, was in a hired 10m American RV.
We picked it up in Boston and drove to a friends beach side house in Manchester-by-the-Sea for the first night and then onto Cape Cod, Mystic, and across to Niagara. A wonderful 3 weeks.

We then hired a few more times before buying our own in 2019

In 1974 aged 18, I bought a 1958 Bedford CA Dormobile for about £100 from what I remember, and over that summer me and 3 mates went away nearly
ever weekend in it, but our first outing in it was to Brighton, and we parked up on Madeira Drive to enjoy the sea view. :giggle:
On a Friday after work we would see how much we had left over from our wage packets for petrol, food and beer.
We usually headed for Bournemouth or Brighton, but if we could get a couple of extra days off work then we went to Weston super Mare, Margate or Clacton.
After a weekend away with 4 blokes not washing, and plenty of farting, the van would smell like several rats had died in it. Great memories of care free days at that age.
Sold it at the end of the summer for what I paid for it as the tax and MOT were due, and bought a rusty Mini Cooper with a leaky exhaust manifold. It was cold driving it through the winter with the windows open so I did not gas myself with carbon monoxide fumes.
