Think ours has to be Vilanova Park, near Barcelona. It’s actually about 3/4 hr from Barcelona but there’s an excellent bus service every half an hour right outside the campsite that drops you in the centre.

there’s also a good bus service to the local town which we’ve grown really fond of and have found a little place on the front that probably does the best patatas bravas in Spain (there’s a challenge!). You can walk into town too. There’s a really good 18 hole pitch and putt within walking distance. I’m not a golf fan, Mr S is, but I never mind going as the clubhouse does a fab lunch ?

it’s a massive site which won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but the facilities are excellent and it doesn’t feel massive because of the way it’s laid out. The loos and showers are spotless and cleaned almost nonstop all day every day.

haven’t been in high season, but for a winter destination it’s hard to beat (so we are here again in 2020 lol)

Yes Villanova park is very nice. We liked Camping Barcelons too, at Mataro. Free bus from the campground to Barcelona twice a day. Lovely site with good facilities.

We stayed at Vilanova for a few nights last January, and quickly realised that it isn’t our kind of site (particularly with a dog and two cats) but what I will say is that the showers and toilets are excellent, as is the on-site supermarket, and the on-site restaurant is very good indeed.

Camping Arneitz, Faakersee Austria. Great swimming in the lake (lake Faak) shower block spotless and all the usual amenities, on the ACSI card too??

So I asked Mr S what his choice would be and he couldn’t decide between Vilanova and Pooh Cottage at Budleigh Salterton.

Two very different sites to be sure, both good locations. The loos/showers at Pooh Cottage were like hotel suites, stunning. One even had a proper bath in.

Kiko park in Oliva Spain. We were on the camper park in one of the 2 larger pitches which are quite private. We normally stay on the main campsite but much preferred the camper area also 10€ a night cheaper.

We stayed there too, but not no 1 on my list, think Cmping Bella Vista at Aguilas was tops, for the lovely shady pitch but with ful sun at the front, a nice small pool which we used most days, small friendly, no bar or food, but you could use all the facilities where the cafe had been for your own 'do' it was Columbus day when we were there and are was well used. Decent bus service into Aguilas, but a pleasant walk too. Mixed nationalities and very friendly staff.

I had sadly had a bad experience at Bella Vista Aquila’s, we were squeezed in with difficulty so decided to move after only one night we were towing a Smart Car on a BJ trailer, €55.00 for one night they had the audacity to charge for the Car and then also charge for the Trailer even though the Car never came off the Trailer, The so called Restaurant isn’t one and is closed anyway, terrible experience.

Now ,Bella Vista at Manilva is superb .

We like Pooh Cottage as well. Easy bike ride into town as well.

Kiko for us. It's on the beach, it's lovely and clean, it's quiet, the facilities are excellent, location is good, with a walk or cycle into Oliva, it has a nice pool, hairdressers, pizzas, sit in or take out, good restaurant just round the corner, laundrette, and wonderful treatments from the resident therapist.

HOW MUCH it is an ACSI site, unless you were there in high season. The restaurant, behind the site, not owned by the site, is open during the day only, it was closed for at least a year till taken over by the sibling of the campsite owner. so sad you had a bad experience we have been 5 times in 9 years and never had a problem. We were disappointed that the pool bar/cafe was shut, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

Not everyone's cup of tea and we've visited many times but this years 7 week stay there made us really appreciate CAMPING JAVEA.

got two both in Scotland Ardtower Inverness great facilities nice people handy for town restaurants etc recommend Simsons garden center for breakfast or lunch near the site on way to town, also glen Nevis near fort William for squashing us in after accident on A82 earlier in the day, proper motorhome service facilities no grey water in the hedges here.

We like it too but it was very full last time we went. Is that still the case?

I think its gets a bit full at winter, we go late March to Late May or early September to November.....bags of room.

I looked into the entrance area and it looks very tight there, and the plots look small? Also it is on an industrial estate? And it looked quite full, I think it was early March 2018. Luckily we had a spot outside a rellies' villa, but we may be back there in a few weeks, so might try to stay at the site for a week or so, so as not to impose too much on our rellie.

Camping le plage port grimaud south of france right on the beach
We have been going there every year for the past 8 years for September and most of October. We arrive, open the door and the dog is out and in the sea. Love it!

That sounds wonderful. Is there much to do in the area? Are there places to cycle to for coffees/evening meals?

Plenty to do. Its on a cycle path so you can go to St. Tropez or take the ferry. Same going the other way. Huge supermarket about 3 miles away. Plenty of restaurants in Port Grimaud itself, etc, etc.

1st Place: Playa Montroig Spain
2nd Place: Otzal Camping Austria
3rd Place: Camping International de Lac Bleu, Annecy, France

I'm thinking of heading up the Otztal valley in July

There seems to be two campsites of that name
"Otztal Arena Camping" &
"Camping Otztal Langenfeld"
Which is the better one ?

There is also Camping Solden, which I stayed at 20+ years ago and I don't remember being as anything special.
(It did not help that I had to extract 10 Venture Scouts from Solden police station, but hopefully they wont recognise me after all this time)
