I use a mangle, it really makes my clothes dry quicker after washing them and I don't need any of that newfangled electricity

Why am I telling you that when it has eff alll to do with what 3 words?

Just following your lead pal.

There are three words I'd like to use at you, but the ringleader has me on my very last warning, so I'd better not spell out what I guess most in this thread are thinking. **u ******g ***b
Hello WeeJocky, name calling does not bother me in the slightest, however I need to apologise to you and I am not doing this from any other perspective other than it is clear I have upset you. This is and was never my intent and whilst I do not expect you to change your view about me I hope you can accept that my apology as it is genuine and I wish you well

This is the last post on this thread from me not because I am wrong or right but if its upsetting someone to the extent I have you then it is defiantly wrong for me to post more on this thread.

Never had the need to use it, I’m sure some may find it useful but map and compass doesn’t need batteries or a computer. It’s an old skill but one that everyone should learn.
Now if we were talking offshore sailing I’d definitely agree with you! I could find my way across oceans using a chart, a pencil, dividers, parallel rule, Breton Plotter, compass and a wind up watch.... No technology or batteries needed..... Just because I can doesn’t mean I would (out of choice) though! If SatNav and W3W makes things easier then why not use them?
Knowing I can do it is what gives confidence as an offshore sailor, and I have needed it.... My yacht was once struck by lightening, blowing up the VHF...😡🤬

My father was a Captain flying VC10s.

This is a picture of the Navigator using the back-up Sextant, in case the Electronic nav aids failed.

Just as a matter of interest, I had a delivery yesterday from a specialist courier. They had e-mailed me the day before, asking for the W3W location.
I love paper maps, particularly OS ones, have taken part in many map reading competitions and have sailing navigation qualfications. I find I rarely bother with sat-nav., but I think W3W is brilliant because of its simplicity and accuracy. For someone unfamiliar with maps or GPS it could be a life saver.
