What temp to set Alde at (1 Viewer)

I park my MH on my drive next to my house plugged in all the time, I don't want to drain it down as we try and use it at least once a month over winter.
My question is what temp would you set your Alde heating too on electric to stop any problems like burst pipes etc regards the cold / freezing weather.

We use 8C

you could be clever and set the overnight option different to day to save a little maybe

we dont bother

but I do also leave the gas option set to on, it will only use electrics if available but avoids a possible crisis if the power failed and you didn’t notice

I doubt that one number will fit all vans as some are better winterised/designed than others, you could end up with a nice even temperature inside and cold spots in the floor where the water pipes are.

10°c in mine 24/7 but thats with a 240v electric heater rather than through the blown air heating... mainly cos that's gas only

I set ours to 8 degrees, (Truma) a couple of days ago after filling up ready to go this morning. It didn’t get cold enough to come on though.

We came home last winter when it was really cold, I set the temp to 14C plugged in the hook up lead, though that will be fine, because we are away again in a fortnight/three weeks.
BUT, I forgot that because we were not on hook up whilst away, I had selected the boiler to run on Gas, no electric!
Both Gaslows empty, fully empty..doh
But Batteries got fully charged

from information gleaned on here and at my service visit at Alde, the electric option is first choice but if not keeping up the gas might be used as well

my experience is the gas can’t be used much, we have never had issues parked up at home for months

Lanerboy our RMB is double (heated) bottom like your Carthago. Leave our Alde set to around 14C all winter with only one element 800W selected. This maintains an internal temp that never falls below 8C anywhere internally (I've used remote wireless thermometers to check), even when the beast from the east hit. Insulation is so good the amount of lecky used is tiny. I do have insulated internal covers for Windscreen and other front glass

Same as above, leave mine at 14° plugged in all the time set to 2kw as if temp drops it heats up quicker

I set the frankia at around 12’c on electric at home. And boost it up night before any trip. Can’t say I’ve noticed any great increase in home electric bills. Winter I leave shutters and curtains open and glass house effect almost always means no leccy used for most of the 24 hours.

8 degrees for me too. (Alde inc. underfloor heating). At 8 degrees gain from the sun means it only comes on for a short time in the early hours in freezing weather.

We have the same van and leave it plugged in on the drive. I keep it set at 5 deg C, the lowest the Alde will go. It rarely comes on and has never frozen, but then we are down south. .

Newbie dumb question alert - when doing this, do you need to ventilate the van permanently/periodically to prevent moisture build up and/or condensation issues if left unattended on your drive for any length of time?
