Looking at a 2009 Frankia 740 C class on a Mercedes 511cdi base with a 3ltr V6 diesel and auto gearbox. I have tried various sites to find a guide on the fuel consumption but from their posts I wonder what some of them are taking. Whilst on, anyone know how I get the differential ratio.

Guys, just out of curiosity, why MPG when you buy your fuel in Litres? Would it not be more appropriate Liters per 100 mile?

I always look at the cost of things, old habits die hard and it's alway's best to know, then the seller can't tell you porkie's
I know what you mean, but something that big ain’t going to do 50 mpg , even with the best imagination.

Because when you’re older you would not have a clue what it means
You buy at pump in litres, your dash trip meter is in miles, what’s confusing?
I average 14L to 100 miles, spirited or with load, 15L to a100 miles. Easy to gage the fuel needed. From 60 litres I expect no less than 400 miles going close to 500 if I’m careful with the pedal.

quite right , knowing the mpg allows you to plan a trip knowing when you are going to run out
also handy to cost a trip as well , I also think 20ish

nope

I always divide the litres bought by 4.5 so I know roughly how many gallons, plus I know 60 litres = 13 galls pretty much a normal fill 👍

Plus I plan all journeys in miles 👍

They sell stuff in meters but I measure up in feet and inches as I understand it. If you like litres then that’s ok , older people often prefer imperial.

I always fill it up when its empty and then after I have been away a lot it needs filling up again 👍

Our 2010 Frankia 8.4m 5.5ton on a 518 Mercedes used to do 19-22mpg on a long run.

I don't I buy in gallons if I want 10 gallons I multiply it by 4.54 and put that number of litres in, much more sensible.

And like most of us when go to the timber yard I ask for 4m of 4"x2".

My old Mk1 Cortina 1500 GT used to get 25 mpg ;)

I tend use Metric for everything except MPG how weird is that?

I've set my satnav to run in metric. I'm happy with dealing with either miles or kilometres over long distances as there's plenty of spare thinking time convert to miles and back again. But when I'm coming up to a junction and my brain is a bit pre-occupied with making the turn, I can picture 200 metres as it's twice a sprint track, but give it to me in feet and I get flummoxed and have to divide by 3.

Suppose it is but old habits die hard...We still drink pints,,😁 BUSBY.

Differential Ratio.
It may be stamped on the casing.
If not then rotate the driven wheels one rotation and count the number of rotations of the prop shaft (say 3.5) the ratio is therefore 3.5 to 1.

I have a pilote 783 2014 build on merc 519, I get 11.8 L/ 100km I drive like a granny (not joking) on holiday, smoking a spliff(joking) with 4 litres of morphine in my blood (joking) i.e very very relaxed I like to know consumption more as a range thing.
