We need a few 12v jobs done on our van e.g. fitting 12v led lights, rewiring a 12v socket, wiring the solar to charge the vehicle battery and possibly putting a new 12v socket in. We're in the Algarve at the moment and I thought we could get a local tradesperson to do it but not sure whether this is a specialist motorhome fix or if an auto electrician would do it for us. I know from one of our pals that Camperserve has about a six week waiting list at the moment. Any ideas?

Many years
Suggestions: Get the travelling Portuguese Motorhome technician to do it, next time he's passing where you are.
First class work, at very good prices. Really knows his stuff.

He travels back and forth along the Algarve coast each week throughout the winter season in his specially equipped van-workshop.
His phone number is 00351 917224110 (he speaks pretty good English)

I have not been impressed by reports I have heard though I have no personal experience. I would suggest you ask around where ever you are, or ask in some of the small garages, many speak good English and their hourly rates are very good compared to the UK

We have stayed at Armacao twice this year and going by what I saw he was busy, has a workshop all set up redoing blinds and making wind breaks plus plenty of spare parts. Personally I would go and see Tommy,he might just fit the girls in.

I believe the sew sew is quite good but most of his customer are not on the site, he was at Portimao till the marina site closed. I would just be wary. Camperserv though are excellent but do book ahead if you need work done. If I wanted some electrical work done I would ask the the workshop in the over priced BP garage opposite Canelas they have done a few jobs for me fast and reasonably priced.

I don't know about the Algarve but an option might be a Marina electrician as they deal with 12v systems too -boat electrics are similar.

I have booked it into Camperserve. They are very busy but gave me 18th January so I'm happy with that. Thanks folks. Mags
