couple of years and loving it
I’ve been in touch with four different companies to get a price for a rack for the back of my MH to carry a scooter and not one of them have come back to me.
I wouldn’t mind if I had an obscure MH that might cause a problem but not even a return call to say it’s not our thing!
I have an acquaintance who recently opened a business selling MH‘s his reasoning that the industry is so poorly serviced and if he did just a half reasonable job he would do well and he’s been proved right!
pitty I love everything else about it!

Ive had similar with threwways ntotorhomes in Abergele, where i bought mine new.
Tragic responses for anything I ask.
Ive switched to Spinney for all my enquireis now.

Could they be shut maybe? It is a lock down after all!
Our front counter is open for essential repairs and MOT's but I have one of my girls running it. We normally have 3. One is self isolating the other cant come in as no child care. She is literally run ragged!
Parts suppliers are shut, parts companies supplies are devastated and will take probably a year to replenish.
Silly things like clips for blinds are not available until May at the earliest.
I politely asked someone to get out earlier when he frog marched in and shot a verbal shotgun in her face telling her it was disgusting that he had been waiting for 3 weeks for a replacement graphic that covers his fuel filler. It has blistered and was being done under warranty.
He was going to go mental at us on social media, faceache, fun as well telling his local nieghbourhood watch commity and his goldfish and probably anyone in Sainsburys as well. She politely stated she had told him 3 weeks ago that it would be at least 3 months as per the company that manufactures the graphics has told her as she told him.
I actually apologised to her on behalf of the customer whilst he was stood there as she was in tears because quite frankly he was nasty!

Please be patient with the companies you have approached as I am sure they are trying to get the information for you whilst coping in a global pandemic!

Now I’m retired my son has taken over my Towbar business, and has closed the workshop while we are in lockdown.

If your Motorhome is Kon-tiki 669 a Towbar solution to carry the scooter rack will not work as the Towbar design has a vertical load of 100kg only.

I don’t know if a scooter rack bolted to the back wall of the Motorhome is available or suitable?

Doubt the rear wall be strong enough, so you will need some sort of chassis extension one. Even then you may get problems overloading the rear axle.

There is one for free in the Classified ads. Just go to the top of the page and click on "Classifeds".

Correct, but O.P. might be able do the leg work beforehand and get it on order for when we hit lift off.

Thanks for responses, I Have spoken with a couple of them and even sent information to another with photos etc. All have promised a return call but none have been as good as their word yet!
I know people are busy and some furloughed but the courtesy of an email or call costs nothing.

cheers

Covid is not the only issue in supply line challenges, much is being hidden from plain view.

As leisure industries they should not be open. You could well be communicating with a beleaguered individual trying to work from home with limited access to stock, prices and colleagues. Before replying they may need to gather information from other sources e.g. the maker of the motorhome to find out chassis weight limits and construction.

While allied to the leisure industry they are actually engineers I would have thought. there is no reason why they can’t work. Agreed supply chains are affected but everyone I know is working as usual!

It is not the skills they use that defines their sector, it is the work they do. The Fiat Professional/Motorhome dealer I use has cancelled my February appointment because they are classed as a leisure industry and had to close. When I phone I speak to someone working from home who has access to their computer system. Even essential industries such as health suppliers have constraints. I was seeking some supplies from my CPAP supplier, who also supplies the NHS, the person I spoke to assured me they had the parts I need but said that safe working in their warehouse slowed deliveries down.

Is fitting a new scooter rack to a leisure vehicle you can‘t currently use essential servicing and maintenance?

Not exactly an essential at the moment!. I suspect there are are a lot of people with not a lot to do ringing up asking about stuff. As for the other post about a customer ranting at a receptionist that really used to wind me up when we had our business people would have a go at the receptionist then be polite with me.
