What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

Finally I fitted a LPG external filler point, nerve racking job ! IMG_0102.webp

Removed all 3 batteries. The engine one lacked the punch to turn the 2.8JTD over and the AGM leisure batteries had dropped to 6v.

All 3 might need replacing, but I’ve used a recovery pulse charger and brought them slowly back up to good voltage, disconnected and safely sitting in the shed with no other charge added.

Battery voltages 25 January
Leisure-12.77v
Leisure-12.35v
Engine-12.70v

Battery voltages 02 February
Leisure-12.75v
Leisure-12.33v
Engine-12.68v

So I’ll keep checking to see if they hold their charge, then refit when the sun starts to get high enough for the solar panel to generate power and see how we get on.

Worse case scenario is 3 new batteries, gulp 🥹

Fitted new rear mudflaps today, not stupid price Hymer ones but just as good quality off eBay at a fraction of the price.
Changed the oil and filter yesterday after picking her up from Advanced Automotive, where she had a new cambelt, water pump, coolant and brake fluid. The shared manual clutch fluid was also bled through.

Not this week but within the last ten days or so.
Replaced cam belt and alternator belt.
Fitted new radiator.
Spent a week chasing no start due to
Immobiliser lock out. Traced to a fuse that controls the hazard warning lights. But secretly also covers the rad fan relays and immobiliser circuit. Fault was corrosion in connecter to rad fans which were disturbed when fitting new rad!

motorhome related, sorted the bike loop, tried to fit the bikes on the bike carrier, the arms dont adjust like the fiamma ones do, so off with the old arms, on with the fiamma arms from an older rack, now perfect. sealed the entrance area underneath where the air lines for the rear air enter the door well and just when i thought it was all done, on one of the bikes, the rear has a puncture, watched you tube quickly to find out how to remove and ebike rear wheel and dropped it off for new inner tube (plus a spare) to be collected in the morning, still on course for our Sunday crossing though !!

Are you sure you don't have ABS ?
I thought it was standard, what year in the base vehicle ?
Lucky to find that corrosion in the radiator connector, not an obvious place to go 😕

2001. No sign of any wheel transducers, have managed to lock wheels under braking on gravel.
Also has no airbag, I believe these were an option with such things more likely on the 2002 face-lift models.

Became standard (required) in 2004. Before this it was an option as I understand it.

Mines a 2006 and don’t believe has ABS either. Replaced all 4 discs and pads and apart from the low pad wear lead, there’s no sign of ABS.

2013 Ducato, the central locker broke from carrying too many maps/guide books. I fixed it with a length of 4mm steel bar from B&Q, which fits perfectly in a slot at the back of the crossbar. I wound tape round one end where the original had snapped off, to balance the two ends. I think it’s stronger than the original.

Also fitted a proper CBE switch with LED for the fridge fans, to match the other switches; instead of a basic flick switch, looks a lot better and won’t get hot!

I have had my 3500kg MURVI Morello, since 2017 and the Shurflo water pump situated behind the back of the wardrobe, near all the electrics, has always bugged me.

#1 because when draining down for winter, it's a pain to get to and
#2 being next to all the important electrics, if it sprang a leak and sprayed the pressurised water all over the place, it might have serious consequences.

So, last year I moved the pump to behind the rear doors on my PVC where it's much more accessible and safer.
HOWEVER, the little inline filter on the inlet side of the pump has always, to me, seemed the wrong way up because, the clear plastic cover over the filter, is beneath the water pipe and cannot drain completely.

The remaining water can freeze, expand and crack the plastic causing problems next Spring.

Now I have secured it, on TOP of the pipe and now should drain completely!

🤞For next winter!

As per another thread, this week has seen the Hymer progress to having four working headlights.

and all the other driviing lights as well.

I thought the strainer was designed to hang down so that it does not trap air in the bowl. I would also think that hanging down makes draining and cleaning easier because when you unscrew the bowl the water and grot will not fall out and make a mess.

Repaired 12V to rear of RV - rusted exposed cable.
Learned how to Flash an on board petrol generator - restoring 230v/120v supply if needed (don't worry we don't usually use Genny but nice backup).
Located Emergency Start relay - disabling for Lithium.
Replaced inferior cable from Solar control to battery and didn't have to drill a hole.

I am now tired.

We will see 😄, I have seen them under and over the inlet pipe as original fittings so.......?

All I know is, when my pump was in it's original position, behind the wardrobe, it was VERY hard to get to and, despite draining down as I do now, I had 2 cracked plastic covers so, as I say, we will see. 🤔

PS. So far there has not been any grot, just clean water? 👍

Sorted out faults in the Dometic fridge, which seem to have been caused by moisture.

Resurrected the 'safety' strap that is used to ensure that the drop-down bed does not drop down unexpectedly.

Also, and this is not actually part of the vehicle, I carried out some repairs to the asymmetric wooden ramps which I use to raise the front wheels (Off-side lower) when parked up at home. The vehicle is rear-end-high when unloaded, and the daft roof design causes water to collect around the two rear roof lights. This is undesirable, and so the ramps encourage rainwater to run off over the back and the driver's side.

Have not fixed anything this week , but the dealer will be next week , Truma diesel heater packed in , smoking like a steam train . Bed support for infill coming away , although the screw hasn’t bent the way I would have expected , so may not have been fitted correctly in first place . Now considering taking out the extended warranty for Wildax as I think we have a Friday afternoon van 😂

Me - nothing. Adams Morey fitted new adjusters to o/s dipped headlight unit but still fails MOT alignment, so they haven't fixed anything either. I'm beginning to wonder whether I should have brought it home and fitted a couple of packing washers to improve the alignment to provide a bit more play for the adjusters. They've had it a week already and I've had to shift my Monday Bognor booking on for another nine days in the hope that it'll be sorted by then.
