I think her hopes were well and truly dashed and she may never look at a Motorhome again.

Her last post was March 28th. Hope she hasn’t given up!

The sad thing was she was so excited about getting a van in the first place🙁

Hi guys, sorry about the loss of contact, it has been highly intense.
dealership, replaced the gear box, as the forks (thier words, had worn out ), new gearbox, new clutch, and a battery was installed by the dealership, who took the vehicle back to their depot 350 miles away, as no one in Suffolk could fix her !

Returned to me 2 weeks later, but I or my son in law, daughter, 4 male friends, could actually get her into 1st gear ! We tried, and tried, but it didnt move off the drive it was delivered too here in Suffolk. Driver did say on return of the vehicle, it was STIFF. but what he didnt say was IMPOSSIBLE to move gears into 1st.

We are now 6 weeks down the line, dealers picked her up, and long story cut short, they have taken my van and holding my money! I have quoted the Consumer Rights Act, (as persee, the CAB has advised, that I am able to receive my FULL REFUND of monies, as it is within 6 months of purchase!).

I reported the problem, to the dealership within 1 hour of picking her up, and tried up here in Suffolk to repair it, but no one could do it ! hence dealer took her back, and did it in their garage.

So letters back and forth to solicitors, have been useless, as the dealership will NOT return my money,as they feel the van is drivable and has been fixed !
CAB, say, that i might have to fight this in court, to get my refund, and that it could take months, with the court problems as they are, and i wont have the money to purchase another one,for my ADventures, into retirement,

I am frustrated, terribly stressed, wtih it, all, as both parties feel they are right, and all i want is my money back . The law states that the dealership has one option to repair, and if it doesnt work, then a full refund should be given, they had over 3 occasions to fix it, and when they did, I was unable to drive it all !
sorry winging a bit, as i am a lady alone, 66, and just want some adventures in life ! sobbing now

Sorry to hear that but I'm sure it will turn out for you.

Can you get a mechanic or AA or someone to go with you and check this 1st gear thing in front of them.

If your appointed solicitor is not getting anywhere there are plenty of no win no fee businesses that will stamp all over the dealer in short order.

Sadly, its become very nasty, and I do not want the Van now, i have lost total confidence with her now

Absolutely disgusting behaviour towards you !
I hope the dealer rethinks this decision or we might have to organise a MHF rally on his forecourt!
i think it has gone past that stage of no return, he is digging his heels in, and im distraught with it all, but can afford to walk away it is my lifes savings gone into her

Hoping there might be some legal 🦅 on here who can advise you 🤞
that would be great, but the CAB have been wonderful, and are saying that he has to return the money, he is saying he will, but ONLY when the van is sold, which could take months, and all the summer would have gone by then

Can you name the dealership and location maybe another member can go see it and see if they can get it in gear. If it was near me I would certainly do this
That is so kind of you, the driver managed it with a struggle, and took me my son in law out in it, but nneither of us could do it, as the driver said there was a nack, and it was rather stiff. I do not want to go on hundred of miles touring worrying that 1st gear will be a constant battle. my son in law is an Engineer 6ft 4 and he couldnt manage it either . sohe was very reluctant to allow me to do the european tour or any driving, with this as it was

I am amazed that you you have not named the dealer so that we all avoid falling victim to them? If I had been sold a pup I would Per-sue it through the legal Chanel’s, Or is it more a case that motorhome life is not for you? Sorry if this sounds like a derogatory comment but this had been ongoing for months now, any dealer with any self respect would get this mater sorted to enable to allow it still trade with respect from future customers.

What’s the name of the dealer please ?
edit
As above. It’s really important you let us know who this dealer is , so that others can avoid going through the same situation.

Bigtree, if you have been sold something not fit for purpose then fight it through the legal Chanels, the prices these dealers charge they should be supplying motorhomes fit for purpose any problems should be sorted ASAP, my SIL bought a motorhome from a big dealer that had major damp issues a couple of years ago & rejected it as not fit for purpose & accepted a 80 % refund, not what I would have done tho I would have gone for a 100% refund & if they had not done that I would have gone down the court route with 100% refund plus court costs, but she felt intimated by the dealer.

sweet caroline I'm so sorry to read you have had to go through this you were so full of hope for new experiences with your Motorhome I do hope it's resolved without to much more stress. Fingers crossed you can maybe put this behind you and then follow your dream again, and don't let this experience take it from you.
