Thought it might be a battery isolation switch but wires are too thin.

Looks like a connector for something.

Is there hole for a wiring loom/connector to be poked up the end, then locked in place with red lever/clip.

That rings a bell as one of the connectors I use to connect the towbar wiring loom into the CANBUS system when I fitted our towbar.

I didn't fit the towbar but noticed a row of fuses and relay in the battery box that's not std and at rear there is a connector on the same side. just looked at doccumentation that came with towbar and theres an interesting wiring loom but nothing quite like this connector ,but i suspect that's its purpose.

No fancy security in this location thats elsewhere.
