i see plenty left out on the drive but I quite fancy a cover to keep the worst of the weather and crud off
If you use a decent cover that doesn’t blow off and rip in a slight breeze please share link, or any other things you do out of interest

A lot of people take them to Spain or Morocco where it is a lot warmer, even if you don’t go that far regular short trips will be better for the van than sitting under a cover all winter and putting a cover on and off might dissuade you you using it.

Funny, I thought about the cover making it less accessible and less likely to pop out for a wee jaunt. Not sure taking it to the sun would be a realistic option for us.

I don’t think a lot of people use covers.

They generally have a gentle rubbing motion with the wind, no matter how tight you think you have it.

The result is usually the removal of all the paint at the high spots and a beautifully smooth surface down to the bare panel.

I always think it’s better to let the air circulate around them.

Orrrrrrr, take it out and use it every couple of weeks, they’re great to be inside nice and toasty warm, while it’s brrrrrr outside:)

Drive to Alicante and pop it in a garage for not much money, then fly backwards and forwards from the UK to use it during the winter. Drive it home in the spring! (y)

If we don’t take it to the sun we keep it in a shed in between regular use, bit of a luxury having access to a shed (y)

Ours didn’t arrive till December so we thought bed better just get on with it and use it .... so Arbroath in January, North Berwick in February then Falkirk and Trossachs in April. We’re fair weather folk in winter so looked for a decent forecast. Not used since then as hubbie not great.

Or when the grand rats come round, pull the blinds down, headphones on, heating on, get beer from fridge and hide........;)
Hopefully, I will be putting a camper port up this year...

We were just looking at the wild campers stacked along the front at Arbroath the other day.
Being in Dundee we are lucky we have so many places within an hour of home so can’t wait to get overnighters
I was doing a job for a fella and they often take their MH to Montrose, Peterhead, Fife for a fish supper and sit and enjoy the view with a cuppa then drive home
I’m excited to now be part of this and have the ability to do these things just for fun

And if you're one of the unlucky ones parked at the back?
Do you have to leave keys with the garage owner and allow them to shuffle them about?

I was wondering how they got them parked so tight and how to get them out, was hoping it’s valet parking but looks scary

Sounds brilliant, how much is it to park in secure spot over there? Amazing all these things are available and we never even considered it.
Last winter paid €400 (circa £378) for six months - come and go as we want and free shuttles to and from the airport 2 miles away. Oh and yes, valet parking - always ready to just drive out forwards when we arrive to pick it up. Additionally, they will plug it in to the mains whenever we want the batteries conditioned - no extra charge. :)

I'm wondering if there might be a modest price increase this coming winter, because the garage is so popular, and they get full. I've reserved a space, but not discussed the money.

The German operators park the van and yes, we leave the keys with them. They have it ready to just drive out forwards when we pick it up - no manoeuvring on our part required.

That sounds brilliant, where is it? Just wondering if we get flights there, might check out the cost from up here

Sounds great! (y) but how do your insurers feel about that? (mine have previously said NO)
At renewal time last year (June) I spent three days on the phone calling around - nearly lost the will to live... As you say, nobody wants to know if storage doesn't have a UK postcode. :(

Eventually, found a broker who said they had an underwriter they thought would provide fully comprehensive cover for exactly what we wanted. And sure enough the underwriter came good and offered us a decent premium. :)
