Last week I had a new screen fitted. The fitter used a totally smear free product, so I asked what it was. Apparently not available to the public, only for new screens. I asked what the otherwise best glass cleaner was and was told screen wash. I mixed up a bit of concentrated screen wash into a spray bottle and for me it worked perfectly on glass, mirrors and other surfaces. Having tried vinegar and newspaper plus almost every product going, the screen wash and microfiber worked as well as Autoglym glass cleaner. If you have anything better I would love to try it.

Very fine wire wool before washing and polishing it..You can also apply a repellent coat..BUSBY..Good film on U Tube..

I wouldn't want to be using something as potentially abrasive as wire wool. After time, even if the glass seems OK, you'll have nicks and all sorts in the surrounds.

Newspaper used to be the trick for window cleaning.

Not with very very fine wool..Recommended by many professionals. My wife when she renovated antiques always started with wire wool,, never ever damaged any furniture.BUSBY.

If your screen is 'draggy' then use a bit of body clay with warm water to soften it. It grabs all the sharp embedded dirt bits and will leave the screen polished and super clean. I saw this on a youtube video for valetting. It really works well and my fiesta was covered in scraches and embedded dirt the wipers squeaked and jumped before and after it was easy and quiet with no streaks.
I bought some blocks off ebay and they were quite cheap, they are meant for paintwork and works better on thebody than glass. Altogether a really good bit of stuff, the amount of dirt left embedded in the clay is impressive, you keep turning it on itself but it you drop it ,throw it away.

They use Isopropanol. It is excellent to remove any wax, grease and rubber sealant. Great on the inside of the screen too, but apply in well ventilated cabin. Can be had at B&Q I believe but on the web or even Halfords!

I use a product the same as Rain X but it is £3.99 a bottle. I sell it at motorhome shows and it is really good, the flies dont stick as well once its on and the water just beads off so I dont use my wipers as much.
Will put a photo up soon

Screen wash, diluted just a little to wash, all over rub with clay bar with quick detailer fluid as lube, dry then wipe down with isopropyl alcohol, at least 80%, let dry then Rain-X twice. That was the mix recommended by a guy that prepared race cars and having followed it since rarely have any issue with screens!

Never mind what product, how do you even reach the windscreen on a Ducato?. I’m down to using an extendable T pole but there’s no way I could use wire wool, toothpaste or many of the other products mentioned .

We keep a long-handled soft bristle brush in the MH garage.
