Rules and laws cannot be written to include every scenario and individual circumstance and the spirit of the rules laws is as, or maybe more important than the letter of the law.

Stupid example: Motorway speed limits are 70mph (I think or has it changed) and Fred respects the limits ...except ... when it is 0200h, there is no-one else on the motorway (no likely in GB) so Fred believes he can now drive at 120mph, no-one else there, if anything goes wrong there is only him going to get hurt. He arrives safely, no-one hurt, no police to dish out the speeding fine ...is that OK ... or does Fred lack a certain moral/social conscience.

For all Freds/Fredericks and any derivitives of that name, please read Humphrey

Personally I think the OP's post is deliberately written to cause division & argument and as such is despicable .

The various arguments have been repeatedly debated on other threads.
It was written to create debate, if the debate is one that you do not like that is your opinion and I respect your right to that.

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
My son and his wife are currently on a two week m/h tour in the Lake District ( no comment). They are eating out, visiting public buildings and socialising with friends who have a functioning hotel up there.
For Covid and other reasons a whole family gathering has not been planned this Christmas but he has invited me to me to join them over the two days and my DIL's niece and boyfriend will be there.
I'm 75, have been conscientiously isolating since March and see the risk too great so will be spending Christmas at home on my own because I don't want to compromise my months of effort, especially when a vaccine will 'soon' be available.
We can all meet up later.

Just read on local Neighbourhood watch, a woman traveled from Bexley tier 2 to Bluwater shopping mall Tier 3, she got questioned by the Covid cops £100 on the spot fine

Can I be a bit pedantic and say it’s not a fine.

Only Courts can issue fines.
She is allowed to challenge the penalty notice 😊

Although as I read it if it goes to court she could face an increased fine. As ignorance isn't an excuse what would the grounds for appeal be?

From my point if view, if i were to lock myself away, out of harms way, the risk of damage done to my mental health, IN MY OPINION KNOWING ME, would be worse than the Covid threat

That does not mean that I am illegally partying within 25+ crowds with no face mask at the other end of the (no) caution scale

FWIW i believe the “risk” is exaggerated by the media and government compared to the normal risks of life

I think it is up to us all to do what we see fit within the law to protect ourselves
If we stay away from the ‘others’ I cant see a problem

Blimey!

I'm live in Tier 2 (inside the M25)
Tomorrow morning I'm dropping off the M/H for it's annual service in Dartford (outside the M25 so in Tier 3)
And then cycling home.

Should I add £100 to the service charge ?

As a couple we used to be out at least once a week, doing something folky. Since March 9th when we went to Plumpton races, we have only been 'out' once, (apart from shopping, doctors/hospital appointments) and even then have done a lot of grocery shopping online. Our one outing was a long country walk, with a Sunday lunch at a very well organised socially distanced pub, in between lockdowns. We are not seeing any family this Christmas, we will be home alone, which is heartbreaking, we have not seen my husbands grandchildren for a year and my first grandchild is due in January, I won't be able to see him or her. When our new campervan arrives, hopefully end of January, we will definitely be going out in it, even if its just a mile down the road to the seafront! We are going stir crazy and if we can park up, open the doors and put the kettle on, that will be ok with me, we won't meet anyone, or breathe on anyone, so anyone who wants to tell me that I am a danger can **** off

I would imagine that most on this forum are over 60 and or retired. We - I am including myself - are the luckiest generation. We have had long peace. Most home owners on a good pension, money in the bank. We may have 10 to 30 years at the end of a good life. Yet we expect our children, grandchildren and future generations to follow rules which cripple our economy, damage irreparable education. I have 2 son in laws with families and mortgage made redundant. Our generation had, basically, full employment easy mortgages to enable us to get on the property ladder.
I am so angry. If you need to protect yourself then isolate. Let everybody else enjoy the privileges we have had. We are going to die! I will go with a smile on my face knowing I have had the love and cuddles from my family especially my grandchildren.

no-one is trying to force their opinion simply putting forward my views, not yours, ok. you do not have to read the post if you do not want.

I am not p*ssed off because you hold different views, so why are you?
just another argument starter in my opinion.
And the way you put it across in my view was like someone doing the sermon on the mount.( others may say up your own ***e)
As you say, you didnt force us to read it but we have to read it to see what it is about ! , once read we can decide not to continue, which is what I will be doing,

I actually only read the first 5 posts and thought trash. ( I actually thought trash after your first preachings, but gave it a chance)
this is coming from someone who lost a life long friend and family member to covid

I thought this was a motorhome forum with added fun. It beggars belief why you thought it appropriate to start yet another "debate" on this terrible subject in the first place. Don't you have the awful Facebook or other social media drivel sites to foist your "views" on (n)

There are a number of helpful people and a number of threads on here related to motorhomes that are the reasons I pay my subs, if everytime I hit the what's new button to be presented with more covid and political claptrap, whilst I'll miss the advice and adventures, I'll not be renewing :(

ok, so I am taking the mickey a little, but it would be nice if the debate was the subject and not the poster.

example "dick you are an idiot for having that view" not nice
"dick I do not agree with your point of view because .... reasons " productive, and nice
And the use of dick it appropriate

and your opinion is as valid as anyone elses, no more or less.

I would prefer to use debate/discussion as apposed to argument, but again you have the right to your choice of words

I thought there are sections within motorhome forum for most subjects. Is not Covid a huge part of todays life and as such should it not be discussed. You do not have to take part, you have taken time and effort to contribute.

Do not blame me for your personal choices of membership, or is it that your last line
"if everytime I hit the what's new button to be presented with more covid and political claptrap, whilst I'll miss the advice and adventures, I'll not be renewing"

an attempt to silence opinions you are not happy with or you will take your "ten shillings" elswhere

Well, I used the name "dick" as just that, a name.

You want to use it in another context, your choice.

debating the subject without being personal is not easy for some

Motorhomes are used in many different ways. One way is to get away from home in the city, out to the countryside, away from everyone, and then walk/cycle round in a beautiful and interesting place, away from other people as far as possible. Another way is to move from near the local pub to a different pub, and spend the evenings in there.

I can't see much risk in using the motorhome to go birdwatching, fishing or surfing. Probably less than staying home and taking in grocery deliveries. Or maybe you think we should all stand in a six-month silence in honour of those working on the front line.
Fully agree,,felt much safer on my jaunt to France and Spain in sept oct than i do now back in the uk. Departed uk via the tunnel on first of sept and spent 4 nights on empty aires travelling down to Avignon..Spent 3 weeks on a 100 pitch site with 3 other vans on.Other than essential shopping we never came into contact ie closer that 5 metres to anyone. Travelled to Benicasim for 4 weeks. Again the site had 300 odd pitches but max of 60 vans..Masks had to be worn when off your pitch..Loads of hand wash everywhere and Spanish were excellent at SD..Toilets and showers cleaned every 2 hours,,pitches sanitized when vacated,,swimming pool by appointment only...A week driving home via the tunnel,,again every aire empty..2 weeks quarantine and then we went shopping. Thought Covid was over..People not sanitizing when entering shops,,no SD in shops or walking in the streets. Its that bad we wear face masks all the time we are outside. BUSBY.

We wanted to visit GB but the news programmes showing so many not wearing masks put us off in the first instance, now with the regulations, we will stay put in France. On BFMTV (french tv) they were this morning suggesting that the "fire blanket" "couvre feux" may stay in place until spring here, that would mean the curfew between 2000h till 0600h.

Yes, in the UK it's normal to not wear a mask in the street, and often not even in shops. People here don't know how it is in other countries. I was walking the dogs round a supermarket car park in Spain while autoroutress was shopping. A police car appeared as if by magic and put me right in international sign language in no uncertain terms. Lucky to get away with no fine.

what absolutely galls me at the moment, or as some of my friends say "boils my p***"

I started work at 15years and 4 months in March of 1970 and worked hard all my life (well, I worked ish) sometimes as a HGV driver I would do 45 hours in the first three days of a six day week, always I thought all of this is so that later I will be able to enjoy a reasonable retirement.

Now, here I am, sat at home, nothing to do, cannot go out and wishing away the retirement I worked so bloody hard to get to.

I know there are many many much more unfortunate than me and 'er indoors, and we are grateful for our many blessings ....but ... bloody 'ell..... it was not meant to be like this.
