Treated myself to a Nikon D70s just before I retired. Came with Nikon 18-70 lens and since bought Sigma 28-300 macro. Well pleased with all. ::bigsmile:

Likewise, Nikon

Broke original lens when I fell off my bike (don't ask :roflmto:)
Replaced with a better 18-70 AFS Nikkor 1:3.5 - 4.5

I also have 55-200 Nikkor lens which I like for shooting portraits..

Mine is a Fuji Finepix, it's an "old" model now, as I bought it in 2000, when a 3-mega-pixel digital camera was unheard of:roflmto:(that's what it is). They now do a 7 mega-pix version, which costs 1/4 of what mine cost back then:RollEyes::roflmto: still, it takes lovely photos, and has a good close-up mode, too.

Jim - LOVELY portrait!:Smile:Is the model a relative?

I too have a Panasonic FZ50 with a screw on zoom lens bought by my wife for my 60 Birthday, haven't made much use of it yet.
Mary has a compact Cannon ideal for quick snapshots and easy to carry.

Used Canons since I bought my first canon A1 in Hong Kong in 1979, I still have it. ::bigsmile: Since then I have owned plenty. including A titanium Leica M6, and a Hasselblad 501c > Alway scome back to canon and the camera of the last 3 years has been the EOS1dMarkii which is a superb piece of kit. I also have a tiny 7meg Canon Ixus and a Pentax Compact that can take pictures under water.

I have just bought a Fuji Finepix S5700, 7.1 megapixels, 10 times optical zoom for £124, which I think is a bargain. I am well pleased with the few test shots I have taken.

As an amateur I upgraded to a professional Fuji when the price was still high, but managed to pull off a deal with a guy who was a professional and ended up with 2 S3's.

Fuji S3 Pro (Keep thinking of upgrading to S5!)
Sigma 18 - 200mm lens
Nikon 50mm lens
Nikon 70 - 300mm lens
Sigma EG - 500 DG super flash
Backed up with Sondy HDV 1080i camcorder for those moving moments!
Elinchrom Studio Flash kit with bits and pieces.

One of my favourite cameras is a biscuit tin with a hole in the lid. Seriously! :roflmto:
I took some of my best ever portraits with it. And some toy cameras that I used to have gave really interesting results, full of lens distortion and light leaks, using very coarse-grained Hungarian 35mm film, developed in very hot and ice-cold chemicals.
Since I bought a digital camera, though, I've hardly done any photography at all. All the fun's gone out of it!

Fuji Finepix S6500fd.

I love this camera. It provides most of the functions and flexibilty of a true SLR for a fraction of the price... the picture quality is pretty darn good too.

I got it just before Christmas last year for the bargain-basement price of just £105.00 from Amazon. A few days later they put the price up! Hardly surprising really, they were undercutting the competition by at least £35.00
Of course I also had to buy a 2gb memory card for it but even when shooting at '6mp fine' it allows for over 600 pictures to be taken and stored.

It's funny how the price of technology drops year on year. My last digital camera, a terrible Kodak CX4200, cost £150.00 a few years ago.

Bought meself a Sony Alpha 200 with 18-75 and 70-300 lenses earlier this year, superb camera. I also have a 7MP cheapy comet own brand compact for every day snaps which I use in the workshop. Its proved very useful for showing customers what's under their 'vans without having to drag them under it.
