I have four of these spotlights that get very hot and no doubt are not efficient by modern standards.
Before I look for whole unit replacement is there a simple plug in led equivalent?

Image of bulb - fits in at an angle and a gold ring with perspex cover clips flush over top a bit like a down lighter .

That is one of the worst to replace. You have a pinpoint of light which radiates 360 deg. It's small, it's light.

An LED radiates a narrow cone. It's on a heavy PCB. It's big. So having gone over many bumps the piddling little pins with that big PCB fracture. The beam might not match the reflector.

You also have to choose brilliant white or warm white.

You can do it be don't expect an easy ride.

Mine light more of the van up than the halogens ever did.
I've not had a single failure yet! And to be honest I can't see anything fracturing any time soon as it is supported pretty well when you clip the front lens back in.

That's the neatest one of that type I've ever seen. Cheap too.

I measured an existing halogen and the aperture they'd fit into, and these are the best I found. I bought two packs and they've all been fine. The lighting diode may be a large area on two sides of the PCB, but they work very well in lights that have the reflector half way down the shaft (most of them), and when it's to one side (three in the toilet).

I'm going to be trying a couple of these Phillips G4 lamps. At 1.2w the power consumption is incredibly low and because it's Screwfix if I don't like them they'll take them back no questions asked. They have a pretty good range of G4 lamps.
