The pheasant (Phillip) was a regular visitor this time last year. He was very friendly walking around looking in the window at us.

In our previous home we used to have a pair regularly tap on the French window, early morning, when they wanted feeding.
Then.... she started bringing the family....
good job we were well supplied with corn from our friends!

We had a goldfinch yesterday couldn’t get a photo as it didn’t stay on the feeder for long

When we lived in Lancashire we used to have quite a few birds in the garden but since moving here to South Wales we have a lot more species visiting us. We are lucky that we have woodland surrounding two sides of the garden.
This morning we were visited by a mistle thrush and one night last week we had a tawny owl.
Our regulars are

Coal tits
Long tailed tits
Great tits
Chaffinch
Bull finch
Greenfinch
Sparrows
Dunnocks
Woodpeckers
Collared dove
Robins
Sparrow hawk
Starlings
Wrens
Pied wagtails
Blackbirds
Nuthatches

We don’t seem to get the bigger birds like crows and jackdaws and magpies but they seem to go into our neighbours garden

There was a thud and we found it on the ground, luckily the cats and our dog were too slow, so I managed to rescue it, put it in a box, one hour later opened the box and it flew off.

In my garden there's often a blackbird, starling, blue tit, cole tit, dunnock, robin, goldfinch, wren, wood pigeon, collared dove, and magpie. And, for the first time in years, this morning there was a pair of - sparrows!

Yesterday we had a racing pigeon visit. It was obviously knackered, so we put some food and water out for it. It drank a lot, stayed about 4 hours then took off, circled the house twice and was gone. Job done.

We try to discourage hooded crows, they carry the feeder tubes away then dismantle them ?

With us it's Starlings ! The minute the food goes out there's a flock, they clear it in seconds.
Have tried denying access but they still find a way in .

We have loads of visitors to our bird feeder.....

Starlings
Sparrows
Wagtails
Bluetits
Yellow hammers
Hooded crows
Rooks
Blackbirds
Robins
Collared doves
Chaffinch
Dunnock
I think that's it, but I doubt it.

We also see......
Barn Owl
Osprey
Red Kyte
Swallows
We hear a Tawny Owl.

We also have Wrens who over-winter in the Swallows nest above our living room window, they have to be the cutest birds ever.
Our bird feeder has grown in size so that we can satisfy all our visitors.

We live right on the edge of the village and a forest.

Put lots of hanging feeders out with a selection of different bird foods and some ground feed also

Oh and shoot the squirrels!

Only shoot them if they are greys and don't use the mixed feeds, they are full of stuff the birds don't eat. Sunflower hearts, Niger (thistle) seed and meal worms disappear in no time flat.
Don't put meal worms down as ground feed though because hedgehogs eat them and they are bad for them.

House martins, blackbirds, a finch unidentified, sparrows, bluetits, collared doves, starlings (annually on cherry-ripe day)
And this fellow at Brecon Beacon visitor centre last year. How (I hear you ask) did this bird ever leave the ground.

Apart from the dog baiters (magpies) I only ever notice two... My little buddy the Robin and his slightly more timid mate.
I only have to pick up a rake or spade and he's at my feet foraging for grubs and worms
I'm sure with patience he would feed off my hand but I have neither patience nor time.... If I sit down it takes me ages to motivate again.
