What are your thoughts on air suspension. We’re considering adding it to our Burstner elegance i920

Hi, we have a 2019 Burstner Iexo 736, we find the ride very hard, the van is literally shaking itself to pieces. We have had the front drop down bed come loose on the nearside twice and the whole bed come down once. Cupboard doors have come loose, shower door, the list goes on. We have Michelin Agilis camping tyres which I don’t think helps. Getting to your question our previous van was a 2012 Elddis Aspire 255. I fitted semi air and 225/70/15 tyres up from 215’s whilst the ride had always seemed fine the difference the air made was quite remarkable. Road holding around roundabouts had a lot less roll and soaked up the bumps on rough roads. If we ever get to wear the tyres out 10,500 miles so far I will fit something with a softer ride and if that doesn’t fix it wiil definitely fit air. Easier for me as only single rear axle. If you could keep me updated and I will do likewise.

We have Goldsmchitt full air love it much more comfortable ride. Very stable in cross winds & when passing artics. Reasonable amount of leveling when parking up.

What is the difference between semi and full please.? Is it foot pump v compressor?
Semi air is basicly air bellows to assist the standard rear suspenion.

Full air the rear suspension is replaced with air bellows unit and the front struts and springs are replaced with air units. The system has an air reservoir and a compressor its all computer controlled so the ride height stays the same regardless of load.

If you have E&P jack's VB air can be integrated with them so when you auto level it drops all the air then levels, giving a much lower level height when auto levelling

We’ve arranged for Coachbuiltgb to fit it for us whilst they’re doing a bit of a refit to MH. Some great feedback so fingers crossed we’ll be having a smother ride.

Our Carthago had a lot of ‘crashing' from the front suspension when hitting pot holes and drains that had sunk below the rest of the road surface.
Had full VB air fitted about 3-4 years ago and no more ‘crashing' from the front and the whole van feels much more stable.
Not cheap, but if you intend to keep the vehicle for a few years the investment is worth it.

Richard.

Lenny, will be your man, especially when you say full as opposed to rear assist.
Are you trying to say that Lenny is a heffalump and thus needs full rather than just rear for a saggy bottom? 😄

The poor old leaf springs on the back are not made to carry all that extra weight 24/7 and start to flatten.
Air suspension on the back, jobs a gooden:giggle:(y)
