First MoHo - April 2015
Good afternoon Funsters...

Been doing a bit this n’ that on Moho... and thought it was time I discovered what this is!...

It looks like some sort of “waste” trap..

It also looks like the bottom “may” screw off..

It also looks like it could possibly be “upsidedown”...

I have two of them ( that i can see ) that are situated just before the grey water pipes enter the holding tank..

Any ideas?... Has anyone had cause to dismantle and clean etc?

Ps.. it’s the round black thing and NOT the red access.. before you lot start with your pish taking :xgrin:

They are traps and screw of part should be at bottom so from what I can see yours look correct
Quarter turn to remove bottom worth taking out to clean

They are there to really wind you up when the sink takes a week to drain.
Only good thing about them, they stop the tank smell coming up the plugholes.

@pappajohn ... Ha!...
However, if I am able to get the bottom off... will I be greeted with “crud” falling out all over the top of the grey tank?..

Edit: they are sat “tight” on the top of tank ... will this be an issue?...

Its a smell eliminator

When you remove the bottom you'll see the PP9 Battery which needs changing from time to time to avoid smelly grey water when you dump

If your waste water smells of "rotten eggs" you may need to change the battery(s)

Glad @Fletton asked this question as I spotted one of these in the gap between the double floors of my Hymer the other day. Is it just a case of just pulling it off the drain pipes and taking out to clean, or is it more difficult?

Don’t recall seeing one under sink... any type of trap.. that is :xblink:
Every van we have had has had traps under the sink and washbasin. You wouldn't fit a sink in your home without a trap to stop smell so why would anyone build a Motorhome without them.

That's the trouble with the internet.

You get a lot of incorrect information posted on it which can cause some folk a lot of trouble.

Please be WARNED.

My smell inhibitor does NOT use a PP9 battery... it uses two AA batteries.

Now here's a thought.
To stop you having to change the AA batteries which will, no doubt, be fiddly can you not just reduce a feed directly from the habitation batteries down to 3v and run it from there? Job sorted. Less down time in the wine consumption timetable!(y)(y):whistle:
Once you've sorted the prototype you would seem to have an expansive market opportunity within the Funster community.;);)
