Us that is, I have decided to earn Brownie points by taking the blame at this stage but obviously it’s Nick’s fault really. We have arrived at a nice campsite right on the Tarka trail with our electric bikes on our nice new Atera Strada DL3.
Pity we haven’t brought a charger! 3 at home including a 12V one. We reckon we’ve enough charge for one decent ride or two shorter ones which was not the plan. Damn.

I have a laminated printed form with all the basics I need in categories, I then tick off items as I pack them, that way it means you always have what you need for that trip, these things come with experience so I'm sure eventually you will find a system to suit your needs having learnt by this mistake ;)

I've a friend who I met up with in Wales for a weekend of cycling, he was travelling by car, took his wheels off to fit the bike in the car and left the wheels behind, and another friend turned up to a different gathering minus his seat and seat post for the same reason!

I've left the key to the battery at home before so you are not alone!!!

Similar Thing, But I once left SWMBO`s Mobility scoot, charger at Home. Pushing that back from the Market at Malvern, is a Hard lesson!!. "Boosted" it with Jumper cable and Crock clips from the Hab; batteries, for the second day.

Good to see you've done the honourable thing but I suspect you'll seek revenge at some future point ?
I know from experience how women never forget such events !
That trail looks interesting, not been aware of that one before.
Can you leave a review at the end please, assuming you get to peddle some of it ?

It's going to rain anyway, just leave them locked up ready for next year.... ;) (y)

I always always forget something - my tablets, dogs prescription food, my purse, sometimes it’s not really that important and I just accept and buy a new one E.g. can opener, drinking water, bedding!

I always had a checklist on the wall.

Dog.
Beer.
Food.
Duvet.
Clothes.
Chargers.
Laptop.
Gas.
Wife.

That’s very kind of you , we reckon we will do a decent ride tomorrow and then Nick seems to think he is going to be lying in the sun drinking cider on Friday and Saturday so please don’t worry.

Got good bike shops in Barnstaple, Bike shed on the square, planet bike on pottingdon ind est, both just off the trail. And the trail is flat so you should pedal it ok, and if you can’t it will make you remember to put the chargers in next time. (y)

No joy I'm afraid, Sorry I tried but failed

our nice new Atera Strada DL3.
I see that you have a van conversion. If it's a Ducato/Boxer/Relay, can you open the rear doors with the bike rack in place (tilted away)?

I want an Altera Strada, for this reason - I think the doors will open.

Tried riding a Bosch Powered electric bike without it switched on. Not that easy. Cycle shop guy asked why I would want to ride it without power. He had never thought that it maybe impossible to charge or stop working miles from home.

I converted two Kansi small wheeled fold up bikes to electric and you can ride them without power very easily as they have 8 speed gears on the back wheels

We have a 2 inch spacer and the towball on the lower two holes. We reckon it would just about be ok with a 1inch spacer and we are going to try that when we get our new van shortly. It’s a Witter towbar. Apparently it is only ‘approved’ for use on the top two holes but all the tests are done for towing rather than for use with bike racks. That’s what we were told anyway. We don’t like it as much as our nice Thule 931 as that is less bulky and fits in the boot nicely when not in use.its also easier to fit the bikes on.

However the Atera strada Dl3 does word but the 2 electric bikes do have to be on the back two slots for the doors to open which will be a boon if we get stopped and searched at the ferries and on holidays especially when we just stay a couple of nights. Don’t read the small print on the roofbox company website as it says it may not be suitable for electric bikes! Even though I’m my lengthy discussion with them that’s why I said I wanted them.

We have a fiat Ducato.

It has to be the DL3 not the DL2 for the slide out distance
