Hymer B704 PL

Hi,
We have bought a Hymer B704 PL and it came with a new awning and loads of extras.

Can you help please? What is this fixing on the roof for?

Many thanks
Toady

non standard spec, and looks like a very crudely done cable trunking for something since removed

Thanks for input but on closer inspection it is some type of rail for attaching something.

No sign of bodge jobs on van so hopeful

It’s just a water deflector factory fitted to prevent water running down over drivers door as others have said we have one on our Hymer 2018 😊

It is fitted in the factory by Hymer to prevent rainwater water from the roof cascade over the cab door, which on an Hymer A class is always on the left hand side, when it is opened. I have one on my 2015 B678 which I bought new. .

Edit, beaten to it.

Missus will be happy
That is the key to happiness.

But beware, there is not another one on the other side. When reversing off my levelling ramps for the first time I got the wife to stand outside by the driver's window (RHD) to check was all OK as I was reversing. She got absolutely soaked by the amount of water coming off the roof. And, obviously, it was all my fault  . We now have hydraulic jacks and it is the same when we pull them up, but she has learnt her lesson.

Have to remember that for when she is getting on my nerves. Cheers

Looks like a DIY fix to try and stop water running down in through the passenger door?
That is what I thought - just diverts the water slightly.

The boss says you may be right. Seems a bit extreme to me
I think "the boss" and Paul are both right, you wouldn't think it was that extreme once a roof full of water had gone down the back of your neck when you were paying a toll or saying bye bye to your mates leaving a rally field.

Of course on the 2 older hymers we had, 2006 and 2004 they used the great gutter system not sure why that idea was abandoned.

I have the same on mine - I've meaning to ask the 'what does this do' question for a while. Mystery solved, thanks!

I also have a very dirty roof....
