The Whale water heater on our 2011 AutoSleeper Symbol isn’t working on EHU (fine in gas).
Anyone any idea which fuse applies? None seem to be marked as such.

In case it helps the fan on blown air heating is working ok. (Can’t tell if it’s actually heating as outside temp too hot to test at present 🙂)

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Handbook says:
1 Fridge
2 Front lights
3 Ignition supplies
4 Water pump/toilet
5 Ventilation fans
6 Rear lights
7 12v sockets/amplifier/entertainment
8 Permanent supply (radio/fridge)
9 Vehicle battery
10 Leisure battery
11 Heater/fan
12 Charger

Is there a separate switch that needs switching on for the mains water heater to operate ? it may be on/near your PSU (EC155-EC500 ?). The other thing to check is the mains power MCBs on the PSU in case one has tripped.
The blown air fan that is working will be 12v operation.

Thanks GeoffnDee
The main switch is definitely on.
I’ve also checked the PSU which is as per pic below - I think all good?

I tried replacing fuse 11 but no change.
I guess it could be the element - 11 yr old van . . .

Gas water heating is working fine and we can always boil a kettle so ok til we get back home.
Just annoying that it was working fine a couple of weeks ago on our previous trip but not this time (plus we’re not at all technical 🙄).

Thanks for your suggestions.

you need to see if theres 240 at the heater if there is its probably the immersion elent thats failed

Is there a reset button on the Whale unit ? or you could try turning the Whale unit mains switch off and then straight on again to see if it resets the unit.
The mains charger and fridge seem to be on the same MCB as the boiler are they working ok on mains ?

Thanks for that.
No reset button. AS Owner’s Manual gives an electrical lockout switch sequence which I’ve tried but still no go.
Mains charger and fridge are working fine and the blown air heating is heating.

I’m coming to the conclusion it’s the element 🙁

Thanks for your suggestions.

Our Symbol is 2010. Where in your home is this unit located please? Many thanks.

Hi - our water heater is underneath the lift-up bench seat (which pulls out to make the bed) and behind the leisure battery. I’ve purchased a replacement element but it’s not something I could fit myself being pretty non-technical. Bearing in mind the long waits for work at present I’m going to wait until the end of the season (we’re fair weather travellers) to get it looked at. If it’s not the element my theory is we’ll likely need one at some stage anyway 🙂

Just an update in case it helps anyone else . . .

In our case the problem seems to have been a blown fuse in one of the 3 what I’ve been advised are called ‘spur boxes’ (see attached pic). In our 2011 Symbol these are located in the bottom storage section of the cooker to the right of the the Sargent power distribution unit/fuse box.

Changed all 3 fuses today (top one was 5amp, bottom left 10amp, bottom right 13amp) and . . . hey presto . . . water heater all working OK now! 🙂

I rather assumed that as all three lights were ‘on’ and lit that it wouldn’t be any of those fuses. Handy lesson to learn.
I’m just awaiting a response from Autosleeper to advise which spur box serves what so that I can mark them for future and confirmation that fuses as they stand are correct amp. Unfortunately nothing in the handbook (that I can interpret) to help.

Many thanks for everyone’s advice.
