We are doing our first trip to Europe in Mid April for 6 weeks with the intention of going down the west coast of France, along the north of Spain and down the west coast of portugal and then coming back somehow.

Looking for suggestions as to places to visit including beautiful beaches, nice villages etc.

Thanks in advance.

On the north western coast of Spain, Playa Las Catedrales near Foz and then on to Santiago de Compostela.

That's exactly what we are doing (except for France) - at the same time. We take the ferry and arrive Santander 15 April... then heading first for Santiago de Compostella

It's not actually on the coast Brian, so we won't be doing that. I expect you enjoyed doing it though, exhibitionist as you are!!

Sagres in Portugal, the most Westerly point in Europe !

Lisbon is further West than Sagres, I'm sure, now you've got me doubting it.

I'll check.

Cabo Da Roca near Lisbon is the most Westerley, both rugged and beautiful.

Thanks for that Brian - Shaughan does an excellent impression of Mr Sewell, so I will suggest it to him!

Il de Re is lovely but if you have a large van (over 3.5t) I think it's now about €40 to cross the bridge! Lovely aire just over the bridge with a view of the bridge and sea if you can get at the front. Looks really good at night when the bridge is lit up.
