Prompted by a discussion on here last week, I've been looking to up-plate my van to 3500Kg from 3300Kg so we can get a realistic amount of luggage and stuff in when we're out and about. Whilst rummaging about for required documentation I found a receipt from SVTech from 2014 showing it had been done already, so good news there. I wasn't aware that it had been done because the new 'plate' next to the old one is so faded I guess I've dismissed it as not being anything official. (It's actually easier to read in the photo than when you're looking at it).

Is the paper version all that is required? I've searched here and t'internet and I'm pretty sure the answer's Yes, but confirmation would be good.

When I had both our MHs up plated by John Ruffles (Deceased), he provided a written document (Design Weight Certificate), as well as the under bonnet sticker. I then had a metal plate made up with the new weights on it, which I fixed next to the original plate.

If your V5 shows the revised weight, just get a new under bonnet label or plate made up.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

If you message me with a photo of your sticker (and any info that's not readable) and the size of the existing sticker, I'll do you a new one which you can print off and laminate/cover with protective film, and stick on the old one so it's readable. Instead of putting it in the engine compartment you could just stick it on the driver's door surround which is where some are anyway.

That's very kind of you, but there was a copy of the certificate and sticker from SVTech in the document pack I got with the van, which I had failed to notice. I've scanned that and made a new one.

Get yourself one of these stamped out to your spec, in place of that tatty label under the bonnet, and as Mel suggests, laminate and mount the new label inside. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
