In France for the first time with the new van.

We have managed to dodge Drs/Hospitals for almost 20yrs. This visit it seems it was time.

Daughter is very unwell and we had to go to urgent care last night, after a 3 1/2 hour wait we got the diagnosis of Glandular Fever. Not pleasant, eldest has had before it so I had some suspicions.

No clue what it cost, it turns out they send the bill in the post.......

I ordered them about 4 weeks ago, they didn't come in time

Yes, we've got travel insurance, they took all the details. I'll have to look at the excess, not sure what it is.

Depends which hospital they used,private or community hospital.

It was the standard community hospital, after last night's experience it seems they have the same problems as us!

If it was just a visit to Urgences (A&E) it probably won't be very much (speaking as an intermittent Urgences visitor ). They charge slightly more for evenings and weekends, they will charge for blood tests etc. The bills take ages to come through where we live, so by then you should have your EHIC which will offset quite a bit of the cost. Good luck

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and advice. We are supposed to be here for another 10 days but I'm thinking we may have to cut it short. She's really only left the van 3 times in nearly a week which in itself is no fun and along with the pain and how ill she feels it's not really fair to subject her to it any longer. On the other hand I feel sorry for my son who is loving it

Only ever used a French hospital once, we had to pay the ambulance before being admitted and the hospital bill before we left
