A Class Burstner
Exp
Since 2014
I had a slow puncture on our Burstner A class and rang around numerous local tyre garages and mobile fitting companies about getting it repaired. Virtually all of them said as it is a motorhome of 4250kg they would not repair but would replace. Quotes ranged from £180 - £205 (Michelin Agilis Camper ).

Managed to ring a local mobile tyre fitting business, and the guy said he would pop round today to look at it... Horrible wet weather and freezing cold, but got it off and found a large nail right in the middle of the tread....( only 1000 miles on the tyre). As it was right in the middle of the tread he said it was repairable..... 40 minutes later, fully repaired and refitted. Checked the inflation of the others tyres - all OK.

I was chuffed that he could repair it...and then....he only charged £30 ( including the VAT).. Result..Now he could of stung me fo a new tyre tyre and charged £180, but he was spot on honest and did a great job.

He is called Richard and his firm is Edge Tyres (07810 093094. edgetyres@outlook.com ) based just outside Abingdon near Oxford and covers Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Northamptonshire and parts of Wiltshire.

Very happy?

I have a lot of luck with mobile fitters as well (3 times in the last 15 years)... (y)

Not sure how I managed to post this twice......!!!

Got a tyre (Michelin) repaired in Kirkwall (Orkney) about a month or so ago by McConechys (Scottish chain) who also swapped it over off the alloy to the steel spare for a tad over £20.(y)
Back in a couple of days later for them to recheck the torques (foc).

I wonder why they refused to repair just on the basis of weight.
I'm sure an HGV fleet manager wouldn't stand a new tyre for a nail in the tread.

I have to say it was interesting speaking with various garages/fitters....

The large mobile companies were useless, the local garages nice but no good......

Had many puncture repairs done on a 44ton artic no problems so long as it’s not been run flat and the repair is in the tread they will not repair if it’s in the wall no matter how minor.
