Any ideas as to where I can find a couple of these tiny little plugs? They seal two holes just underneath the sliding window on the driver's side on an A class Pilote (RHD). No idea why the holes are there in the first place. The holes are actually in the glass. They are branded AVG Automotive. Google brings up nothing obviously relevant.

Obviously I don't care what brand they are, as long as they fit. But where to find a selection to trawl through?

Seems trivial, but water is getting in.

Any idea of the size? It might be possible to 3D print some.

Oooh! Didn't think of that. I'll try to get the remaining one off the van tomorrow when I pick it up. Know anyone with a 3D printer? ;)

We do!!!!

If you could do drawings with full dimensions I'll be happy to have a go. It would be printed in PLA if that's okay and you can warm it gently to soften and fit. Once we know if it works (and assuming it does) we can print off a few spares.

Crikey! Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions. I will check out the various suppliers and post again tomorrow. In particular, thanks to Puddleduck for the generous offer to print some. Let me see if there is anything on offer from those others.

Would a grommet not do the trick? They may be holes for an alternative latch or stop.

Hi acropolis22
If you need them made on a 3D printer, I should be able to design something for you. Send me a PM with all the details and I will see what I can make for you.

Thank you, you're very kind. I don't want to put anyone to un-necessary trouble so I'm pursuing the various off the shelf options first. Picking the van up this morning, so I can get the exct dimensions off the remaining plugs. Will see what I can find after that, and let you know. Cheers.

I wouldn’t use PLA if I were you. It won’t take the heat of the sun. It needs to be ASA or PETG at the very least for direct sunlight in a window. Just making a helpful observation. 👍

I did wonder about that ...... unfortunately I don't have any ASA or PETG and my printer tends to have a hissy fit when asked to print anything other than PLA.

At least with a PLA print we would be sure of the correct size before asking a commercial person to print in a more durable material. Having said that the PLA things we have printed and used in the van have survived much better than expected even in the sun :)

PLA is more durable than its given credit for. I can print in ASA or PETG and the design work is free. I don’t charge much for printing bits. I'm retired and just like making bits for funsters, making bits that are difficult to come by.

OK, so I picked up the van, and the dealer, having originally been dubious about helping me out, managed to find what look like quite suitable plugs. So many thanks to all willing volunteers, but sorted now. And I now know 100% more about 3D printing than I did before. :giggle:

acropolis22 glad you got it sorted.

Martin uses the 3D printer to make bits for model engineering projects swapping parts he makes for others with bits they have no use for but that he does. I make a lot of craft tools with it and toys for the kids.

It's a while since I designed and made anything but the printer has been kept going as our friend is self building his house and Martin has made a lot of guides and spacers to help him out.

That’s great news. You can’t beat the correct part. If you need any odd little things made in the future, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m always willing to design and make bits that are not easy to find.

Stay Safe PaulandChrissy.
