Been looking at what i am carrying in van looks ok suspension wise and not sitting low but my gut is telling me she may need to go on diet so gonna take her to weighbridge and see what she weighs give me an idea of how much spare weight i've got if any.

Cant risk getting stopped and unable to lose excess weight 100kg easy to lose water tank. more than that would be a problem wife wont be impressed

Make sure the wife has an Uber account and a pre arranged meeting point, say five miles down this exact road, then you can jettison both her and the water

The only is way is a visit to the weigh bridge, we were rated at 3700kg and came off with a figure of 3550kg. All well and good except that 1980kg of that was on the rear axle that was rated 2000kg max, too close for comfort, leaving no room for water.
Air assist and bigger tyres, and now all is well at 3850kg with the rear axle rated at 2240kg.

Got pilote galaxy 3500kg 6.8m long license restricts me to 3500kg at moment so cant uprate van weight but it has a lot of storage space

Nice van(y)

We have a MY17 Pilote P740GJ registered at 3.65T and with full kit, (excluding pedal bikes) and full fresh water, our sum total is 3520kg with 1900kg on the rear axle.

If I empty the fresh tank and add the bikes to the rear garage then our weight goes to circa 3,420kg with a rear axle of circa 1820kg.

Unless you are packing the kitchen sink then I'm quietly confident that you won't need to bin the missus (although @Lenny HB idea is a very good one) :D

All the best,

Andrew

Having picked up our new Carthago C Tourer with a Miro of 2975 and a MTPLM of 3500KG, giving a supposed payload of 525KG, we like most others know that these miro figures are grossly exaggerated, as indeed are the Payloads quoted. We paid extra to have it uprated before registration to 3650KG.
We took the new van with full gas tanks 2x11KG gaslows, full diesel tank 70Ltrs & fresh water tank 110 lites, full awning 45Kgs to weigh bridge, just me in drivers seat, a set of milenco ramps in garage, plus the box of new bits like carpets, tyre pump & gunge etc...weigh bridge cert came out at 3380KGs.
Now having to go for rear air assist, plus SV tech or similar cert to get it maxed up to 3850Kgs, with 2250Kgs over rear axle, just to get what we need to carry for long trips in the van.
Lesson learned to us is never trust the MIRO weights quoted by manufacturers.

Don't see how you can say that, with the extras you had fitted and what you had on board it looks to me that the manufacturers MIRO was correct.

Hi Lenny
No unfortunately, having done all the maths. allowing for dealer fit options of 70Kgs, the MIRO figure quoted was 150Kgs over the 2975KGs Quoted. I have read that Carthagos have been known to be about 150Kgs over stated MIRO as no one can say whether this is the "DRY" weight before leaving factory.

I was going by what you said, just realised I added in the fuel which I shouldn't have, but yes Carthagos are often over I know two C tourer A Class vans that were both 130 kg over by contrast Hymers are often under.

If you have a look at your C of C it will have MIRO and Technical MIRO, the Technical MIRO should the ex works MIRO with all the factory fitted extras.
The MIRO includes allowance for driver at 75kg, 20 Lt (20kg) water, 90% fuel (68kg), 1x 11kg aluminium gas bottle (17kg).

We struggled with our last two vans so played safe on this one and had the 4.5 t chassis, fully loaded have 600kg spare payload. Unfortunately not an option for everyone including the OP.

As with @Lenny HB we bad ours weighed by the supplier empty and it came out @3600kgs. I had it uprated from 4500kgs to 5250kgs to take any chance of an overload away.

If you check, I think you will find that 90% of 70 litres of fuel is nearer to 53kg Lenny, making a difference of some 15 kg to your calculations.

Ducato standard tank is 90 Lt.

@TinaL referred to his tank having a capacity of 70 litres.

Also, as a matter of interest, our Ducato has a 120 litre capacity.

fuel tank is full water is low boss is in van and done at withy patch down road from you
Not too bad then. Did you go over the plate 2 or 3 times, I've found results can vary depending on speed and how square you are to the plate.

You're a local boy then?
