5400 refers to the train weight, ie total weight of vehicle and trailor.

Thankyou. Realised what it was after a search.

now I will have to load it up and get weighed soon .
see what I can and can't take.

Won't be much with a total weight of 3400kg.
Probably well overweight now with all those decals he's stuck on!:LOL::LOL:

It's the converts plate (the last plate fitted) that takes precedence, there is no gross train weight shown on that so you can't tow anything.

There’s no tow bar fitted so that’s not a problem.

the problem could arise with weight as the garage says no more than 200 kgs thats the garage alone.

If you have the option of driving heavier via a C1 licence you may want to explore an upgrade using,
Van Weight Engineering, Or S.vTech. Ltd.
I would opt for VWE. Tell them all about your van and they will set out various options.
Best to email them first with a few basics about the van. Make model age, etc.
You can usually add additional struts under the garage area to help increase the payload there, but they come with a weight penalty of their own.
Just a tyre upgrade can quite often get you a couple of 100 extra Kgs. Air ride suspension assistance will get you more, but without knowing the van it's hard to say.
Mike.

It’s old and heavy.
Fiat Ducato 2003 2.3 JTD 244 swift sundance 600B. The letter B denotes bunk beds.

631 KG Payload, not to shabby, but worth a try for an upgrade.

The older vans dont seem to weigh as much so it might be more than you think. My 1996 Kontiki has an unladen weight of 2588kgs and a gross weight of 3400kgs. That's just over 800kgs difference so even allowing 100 for a full tank of water, 60 for diesel, and 150 for me and the missus that's still nearly 500kgs. I don't think all my stuff will come anywhere near that.

Unless you are carry a scooter plus loads of other stuff you are unlikely to exceed 200kg, a lot of van garages are only 150kg.

None of the swifts of that era that I looked at before I purchased mine had the gtw on the swift plate
My 2003 dont

200kgs is probably because you have very little overhang past the fiat chassis, they were only 150kg once they got longer than yours
You need to see if you have the maxi chassis, that can be took to 4 ton but I'm not sure the 600b was on the maxi

It seems to be a std chassis with approx a 2.6” extension .

6.1 metres I guess, 7 metres have the big extensions 👍

It is 6.120 including the ladder in total.

found our nearest weighbridge so when I am fully sorted I will go and get it weighed fully loaded and see where we go from there.

There is another swift plate inside the drivers door does not say much at all.

three plates in total.

If you are happy using spreadsheets, then this allows you to add/remove items once you know the weight, and to see the affect on the individual axle weights.

If you tell swift the details from the plate inside the door they used to tell you wood, wallboard and fabric details on the van....not sure if they still do it because they took down the pre 2010 manuals from their site ☹

I was just thinking that. That's like 9 suitcases on plane limits. I carry a motor scooter in the garage of mine and that's only 70KG. That feels pretty heavy.

That's a very light scooter - what is it?

Nope I went for the lightweight ones less colour and less adhesive.
Then cut them down a few mm all round to reduce even more weight.
