I'm a newbie
Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help with understanding the weights stated on our data plate on our Rapido, as it's not surprisingly in French !!

I'm sure I could ask the dealer we bought the van from recently but they've irritated me somewhat and I'd rather not have more dealings with them than necessary, and I'm not convinced they'd know the correct answers or care!

The actual data plate lists:
3650kg
5650kg
1 - 1850kg
2 - 2000kg
3 - 0kg

Comparing this to the Certificate of Conformity, and googling some translations, I think that 1850kg is the first axle and 2000kg is the second axle and we don't have a third axle. Which of these would be the front and which would be the back I'm wondering?

A vaguely educated guess would tell me that 5650kg is the total maximum weight and that 3650kg is the built vehicle weight but I can't quite match this to the Certificate of Conformity which shows the following (with my googled translations):

Masse reelle due vehicle: 3080kg
(masse of the vehicle)
Masse en charge maximale techniquement admissible: 3650kg
(mass maximum technically permissible load)
Masse maximale techniequement admissible de l'ensemble: 5650kg

What I really want to know is the weight of the vehicle as built, and the maximum additional weight we can put in it.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks,

Debbie

you will have to get it weighed to know its weight .
max you can be is 3650kg
the 5650kg is trainweight vehicle and trailer
1st axle is front
2nd is rear.
go to a weigh bridge . try a scrapyard they have weigh bridges .

Debbie,
1) your maximum weight is 3650Kg - your vehicle and all it's contents must not exceed this.
2) If you want to tow anything then the maximum weight of your motorhome (with all it's contents) plus the vehicle you are towing must not exceed 5650Kg
3) front axle maximum weight is 1850Kg
4) rear axle maximum weight is 2000Kg

If you want to be safe then load up your motorhome with whatever you normally take (including water, fuel, dogs etc.) and go to a weigh bridge and get the whole vehicle weighed and then weights for each axle

As above. (y)

AND Make sure you have C1 on your licence to legally drive it as it's over 3500kg..

Ah right, got it, thanks folks. I hadn't considered that the 5650 might be combined with a trailer.
Fortunately myself and OH are both ancient enough to have licences which allow us to drive over 3500kg!

If you tell us the year and model we should be able to give you some idea of the starting weight, but as soon as you start adding options and extras the book goes out of the window and you're best getting it weighed in 'normal travel' trim.

Note that the max is 3650kg but the combined max axle loads are 3850kg. Therefore if you load one axle to its maximum you will have to reduce the other accordingly. Even if neither axle is loaded to their maximums the combined weight should not exceed 3650kg.
