We use the self service weighbridge by the docks, you need t go through the barrier, but it will be opeened for you. No print out and you need to drive over really slowly. But it is free, and ok if you just want to know you are within limits. Have been using it for 8 years.

It's at the ferry terminus, as you go int the area from the main road it is first on the right at the roundabout
this is best map i could find

Broken Link Removed hope it helps.
We have been there when it was being checked for accuracy, the gateman asked us if we were sure we wanted to do it while they were there.

Thanks for that scotzsue
Is it capable of doing front and rear axles separate, or just the whole thing?
It does both you are better if there is 2 of you one to drive and the other to write down the weights, its an electronic display. We have had to go over more than once if we drive too fast, you need to be just moving to get a decent result.

We use the one at Hull docks too, you really need both of you in the vehicle to get an accurate reading but it's not difficult to read off the weights as you go over the weighing area, it does each individually as you drive over then adds them up afterwards, nice and easy. We usually go over 2 or 3 times to get the average reading as it can differ by 10kg-20kg each time depending on your speed, so go over slowly to get the most accurate ones. We used to use it a lot but since we uprated to 4250kg we don't need to worry so don't bother now.

We need to be a bit careful since adding the bike, not been over yet though we did have to rearange things once to get axles right. Gets easier with paratice.
