Hi
I need to find out the weight on my front and rear axles. I can use a friends weighbridge but it is raised with slopes. Would this be ok if I got as close as possible to the top of the slope,I’m not very long at 5.9M. Sorry it it’s confusing what I mean
Thanks

Get the tyres of the axle not being weighed as close as possible to the edge of the plate without being on it. Normally there is a flat metal frame around the plate.

But if it is a friend's weighbridge with raised approaches, is it certified for accuracy? If not, it probably doesn't matter where you are putting the wheels as it would be anyone's guess how near the readings are to accurate, especially if it's rated for 30+ tonne trucks.

So just leave the wheels not being weighed at the edge of the plate and it should be level enough to get a good reading.

Thanks for the advice Deneb.

My friend is a big farmer and his weighbridge is up to all the current standards.

If you take 3 weights - one for front axle; one for rear axle (as others have described); and a third for the total weight of the van.

Then check if the results from the front and rear add up to the total weight - if so, then the individual axle weights should be fairly accurate. (y)
