I am going to the council weighbridge tomorrow.

Do I just put the front wheels on to weigh the front axle then full on for gross weight, then drive forward so that the back wheels are on?.
Or is there some sort of formula?

Depends upon the weighbridge operator and how busy he is. Do not expect the front and rear weights to add up to the total weight. These things are designed to weigh lorries so your van is at the bottom of its range. If you imagine the machine to be on four pistons you will see that side loads will affect things, many weighbridges are not on the flat so your van is sitting at a slight angle when weighing again this induces errors. Ask the operator what the tolerance is and get him to note that on the receipt.

Not all weighbridges are the same... I agree with 68c, speak to the operator first, you’re a flyweight compared to their regular clientele! 😁

When I said weighbridges are not on the flat, what I meant was there are ramps up to and off the thing. So when weighing one axle you are sloping thus not a true reading, it will be fractionally too light.
