Having just figured out and resolved an error code (chuffed) ,

we are wild camping and the heating stopped mid morning - apparently low battery so had to run the engine for a few minutes, switched the heater off and on again et voila ! Dogs and wife cosy .
a quick question .... using diesel webasto fan heating .
Does it tend to take a few minutes to kick in after you switch it on

any tips appreciated

Hi guys. In all cases with a Webasto or the Eberspacher it takes around 5 to 10 mins for it to kick in properly. The reason is because it has to complete a safety check first before it will fire up and produce heat. When you switch it on it will check the pressure in the system and that the air flow coming in as being correct and acceptable to allow a burn. It also checks the electrical supply and voltage to ensure it has the power available to be used correctly. Quite often they will shut down if the battery voltage is low or poor. Often they are connected to the Engine starter battery and when the engine is fired up, it allows for the system to function correctly (As on Jaguar and Range rover cars etc) and to produce heat quickly in order to clear the car of frost etc.
On a Motorhome in may have been wired up differently , by that , across the Leisure batteries as to be used when parked up and on EHU . Not always are they done this way though. Just check your system. Either way the batter needs to be good for a complete cycle run and pretest as described before it will fire up. Otherwise it will flash error codes at you at which you mention you have already experienced.
Hope it helps a little for you?
