Sure we have sorted out everything for our trip to France on Friday.

But what do we need to sort out on our return in six weeks time? Several “funsters”are in France /Spain what preparations have they made? Any help would be appreciated .

If it stays the same as it is now you will need to get tested before leaving France and have a test booked back here for 2 days after you get back, that said, a lot can change in six weeks.

We came to France on 29/6 and and return on 19/7. We pre-booked our day 2 and 8 tests before we left so they should be waiting for us when we get back. (£105 each person - daylight robbery). Downside is it looks as if you only need a day 2 test now. The return PCR test in France for entry into UK was kindly booked for us in Neufchatel en Bray by the owners of the campsite we stayed at on our first night. (It had to be pre-booked by phone call to the lab and neither my French language skills nor my hearing loss were up to the job). When we checked we found few places which were open on a Sunday and ours certainly isn't so you will need to be aware of this in your 72 hours calculation. The cost will be 50 euros each which is much cheaper than UK.

As far as I can see - as things stand from 19/07 - we will need a negative test prior to leaving France, and as we are double jabbed, a test two days after our return.

We aren't sure when we're coming back yet (probably towards the end of August) and things may be different by then, so we will deal with it nearer the time when we are more certain of the prevailing requirements!

Have just completed all the stuff required to enter France, will now have a lie down for a few hours!!!! What a palaver, but worth it for a 90 day trip

The only thing that gave us a little concern was booking the antigen test for our return at the end of the month. But we found a pharmacist near our last but one site who was able to book us in, so hopefully that will go alright. However two things. First the French Government has decided, wisely in my view ,that the easiest and most effective way to ensure high levels of vaccination take up is to make a full vaccination certificate mandatory in order to get into bars, restaurants etc from Aug 1st. So be aware that from then on you will be expected to show proof of your double vaccination. The NHS app should do the trick. The new policy resulted in 3 million people booking vaccinations in about 48 hrs. And the next day France recorded its highest vaccination levels at 800,000/day.

It did mean that there was a short queue when we went to book our antigen tests at the pharmacy however.

They are trying to get ahead of the game. "The number of new cases in France has jumped to above 4,000 a day, according to the latest available official figures, although the number of deaths in hospital – four in the past 24 hours – is low."

For what its worth I don't know why Boris doesn't do the same given we are at 48,000 cases per day and 63 deaths a day. Seems like a no brainer.

And this on how to use the NHS app to enter bars.

Good luck busby, but as far as I can see it should not be too much of a problem There have been quite a few post from people who have found Chemists or Companies who happily supply the goods very close to Calais it seems they have just driven into villages or small Towns on the way to the Port and asked in Chemists the closest supplier Hope this helps you
