Hi

Didn't think we would escape but it looks like we did (Largely). No rise in Diesel Fuel. and the VED band for existing users I think stays the same?. A one band rise for NEW diesels from April.

Thoughts?.

I knew that was going to happen!

We are due to collect our new m/h on Sunday and asked the dealer to register and tax the vehicle on the 21st, just in case VED was increased in the budget.

Having taken that precaution it was obvious that it wouldn't happen.

On the other hand, if we hadn't had it taxed early they would have put it up!

Going for a lie down now.

Our local petrol stations have been putting up diesel and petrol stealthily over the last 2 weeks hoping if it went up in the budget they would make even more profit. Greed I call it.

Eight Years and 28,000 Miles.
What about the increase in road tax for older diesel 'cars' thought.

Our mohos are taxed as cars, will this affect us?

According to the interpretation on the BBC website, only brand new diesel cars will be affected by the tax changes mentioned in the budget.

Apparently, there is to be NO change to the taxation of existing vehicles that are either already registered, or are registered before 1 April next year (2018)

No they are not, under 3500kg is Private Light Goods and over 3500kg is Private Heavy Goods.

I got the impression older, more polluting, diesels were going up a tax band? So much for my 2000 Espace.

Still trying to figure out how they can tax you on something that does not exist. The new tax band is based on new emission rates that are not due to be introduced ( law )for another 2 years

It sounded like Chancellor Hammond was told in no uncertain terms not to upset the White Van Man voter.

So are cars . .PLG
Up to 3500kg is collectively a heavy motor car regardless of body type.

Only cars registered before 1st March 2001 fall into the PLG tax class. Any car newer than that has a graduated tax class based on its CO2 emissions.

A motorhome of any age which has no CO2 figure stated on its final stage (body converter's) Certificate of Conformity is treated as being in the PLG or PHGV class depending on its revenue weight (MAM) - up to 3500kgs PLG or over PHGV

Gone up 6p a litre at our local garage @Anthea M while we've been parked up for a couple of week. Guess who's got two empty vehicles :crying:

Perhaps because the £50k payment ( if you paid that much) is a one off and voluntary.

Taxation is neither one off or voluntary.
