For some time at home we have had a pet spider residing in our motorhome somewhere in the region of the rear offside wheel arch.

I was concerned for him (her?) when we set off on our latest trip. I needn’t have worried. Our pet has travelled with us. Every morning after driving somewhere the spiders web reappears. S(he) is obviously on holiday and alive and well. I hope s(he) is enjoying the foreign food.:)

Ha ha .. I never cease to be amazed at the strength of their webs. I have a 'pet' on my rear bike rack. .. I also have a very mucky mh outside.

Wheelarch and mirror spiders are a special breed. I had one that, like yours, travelled all over France in a caravan wheelarch. It was still there when we returned home. That was more than 25 years ago.

Do you have to visit the vets and give it a worming tablet before you return.

Yes they seem to like the camera's, it gets a bit boring watching them go backwards and forwards though and it's constantly registering events on the recorder :(

Movement-triggered cctv is pretty pointless outside. If it’s not wildlife, there’s rain, snow and moving shadows to contend with.

I have a little spider
He lives inside my mirror
He seems to enjoy the ride
Showing no sign of fear

I don’t know why he likes it
It can’t be very nice
Especially when I’m driving
Through rain and snow and ice

But he’s been in there for years
And I see him every day
When he pops out to say ‘Hello’
As we travel on our way

Sometimes he likes to dangle
And often ends up spinning
He really must enjoy it though
As I swear I can see him grinning

I hope he stays inside there
May our travelling never end
I know he’s just a spider
But he’s my buddy … my friend
