Having been back two weeks from a tour of Normandy and Brittany we decided we just had to get away.

Currently on the C&CC site at Devizes before heading overseas to…….

…….the Isle of Wight.

A ten day break will just about tide us over until we head to Spain at the beginning of April.

Motorhomes are far too expensive not to use them!

However, being retired makes travelling much easier.👍

I agree but can't get management on same wave length. To be fair we are both eldest on each side of family so we both consider others before ourselves. Our dog is nearly 14yrs and ailing so sadly, the time, Now, is being affected by our concerns for others. I do wonder, sadly if we will ever get abroad in our MHome. Trying to Live the Dream.

We haven't been ot in ours since we spent October and November in France/spain. To be honest I needed a proper bed/space after 2 months on board and not keen on camping in the cold/damp/miserable weather but I must admit I am itching to get back out now, Will be off somewhere soon.

I think Smudger that sometimes we just have to do it ... whatever the 'it' is that we want to do. Your first trip doesn't have to be long or far, we recently spent a lovely week pottering around the beaches south of Boulogne, then on to Montreuil, Neufchatel and Mailleraye, all an easy distance from Calais. It sounds as if you will regret not taking your chance to do your own thing.

We understand that , but in our case we are not the eldest - Basia's Mum at 100 is. We would love to get away at end April, but her Mum's birthday is 13th May and unlike us, who don't care a sh*t for our birthdays, she does.

Now we have to consider what happens if Putin (The nutter) starts pushing West. We have to address the problem if he does not stop in Ukraine, for us it is no problem, no assets here - load up MH and go, but what to do with Mum if she refuses to come with us, as we suspect, so do we stay and take our chances?

Steady Geoff, you shouldn't be getting wound up....you ain't gonna see Russians on your streets....whats happening just now isn't coming to Poland...Putin would be looking elsewhere first...;)

I am not getting wound up, just aware that if Putin does attack any of the NATO States bordering Russia, Ukraine, Belarus then there will be general mobilisation of NATO Forces in the area, which could result in fuel shortages to preserve fuel for the military and some border closures, maybe also food and energy shortages. I do not want to live in a country like that.

I just want us to have a clear idea about what would be a tipping point when we might have to consider what would cause us to make a decision to move away from a country where life could become difficult.

So those are three stages to go through before a decision, but then we would need a plan of where to go, where we might be permitted to go, selling the idea to Mother, and then actually executing the plan: packing, emptying bank accounts(which could take days if there are withdrawal limits) saying goodbyes etc.

I think from any 'tipping' point it could take 8 weeks before we could organise to be 'off'.

I also have 2 eye operations in the offing.

Ignoring the eye ops, how long would it take you to make an orderly change of country - I do not want to be like those Ukranians stuck at the borders - and where would you go?

Living almost overlooking Portsmouth Naval dockyard, I'm keeping the moho 'ready to roll' at a moments notice for somewhere remote and upwind. Hopefully someone will remove "Mad Vlad" before it gets to that.

I tried writing to the PM via his website this morning but both attempts came up with a "blocked" message. Whether they are inundated and have switched off or have been cyber hacked I don't know. I have sent it to my MP with a request to forward it to both him and the Secretary of Defence.
