So, as the name of the thread might suggest, we have finally taken a deep breath and put a deposit down on our very first motorhome!!!!!! Not sure how long this <Broken link removed> will last, but hey, some of you might get to see it !

It's a 2001 Burstner 576-2. Transverse rear bunks with a large double overcab for SWMBO and I. Double-floored with both tanks internal to allow us to use it for winter snowboarding trips and for those chilly Polish winter weekends away as well!

Really nice dealer, went through the van with us and every item we listed as being problematic has noted and promised to have resolved before we sign the full contract (from little things like worn catches on a cupboard to larger things like a replacement door on the fridge). Managed to get a full vehicle service, new timing belt and waterpump as well as a wide-angle reversing camera thrown in to the price. The van comes with a year guarantee against any habitation defects (including damp) and a shorter 3 month one for the appliances.

Payload is pretty small (as i'm sure some of you will look it up and tell me :roflmto: ) but plan to have it uprated as and when this becomes a problem.

The next ten days before pick up are going to draaaaaaggggg by I can tell!!!

It looks in a very nice condition. Congratulations, just try keeping busy til it’s time to go collect him/her. Are you naming it?

Thank you so much everyone. As to naming, SWMBO seems set on Brunhilde :lipssealed::lipssealed:. Me and our son are trying to suggest some.... alternatives but she seems fairly set on it I must say!! She (the van) has some heavy (but purely cosmetic) hail damage on the left hand side, so the messaging of that name (protection/armour and battle) seem to be fairly fitting in a way I guess. Also given that the habitation door weighs approximately 750kg it certainly should offer us some protection!!

That looks in great condition. I like the bunks.
You live in a beautiful country. Poland and Romania were our favourites when we toured Europe in our motorhome. Ideal for wild camping.

Nice. Well done.
Does the rear open?
Does that still work with bike rack attached?

Landy Andy yes the rear doors open up and no, it doesn't open with the rack fitted. It does have a tow ball fitted, so we will probably replace the current rack with a tilting ball mounted one. Until that happens the rack will come off, as with the bottom bunk tilted up, the garage is easily big enough to take 4 bikes standing up.

Congratulations.

I am just going through re-registering our UK MH in Poland, so I am interested in how you get on with Insurance, as the market is very different from UK, especially hard to get AC(fully comp) and even basic A(Third party) does not come with fire and theft.

Thanks Geoff,

We are starting to look into the insurance side of things today. Before purchasing we were aware that the motorhome insurance market in Poland is somewhat of a minefield. We have made a few contacts over the last 6-8 months of looking and we are hopeful that these can steer us on the right path to some reputable and reliable companies that offer a comprehensive package for a reasonable cost. Once we have this sorted, I would of copurse be happy to p.m you the details of any companies we spoke to so that you may discuss your individual requirements with them.

Thanks, would be most grateful for a PM.
