just looking
Hey guys we are a start-up and are trying to create a better toilet for motor home/ caravan owners. We believe that you deserve something better; for too long toilets have stayed the same and we want to offer motor home/caravan owners a better user experience that compares to being at home.

In order to make a toilet you love we need to understand your problems better, if you are free for a call, please like this post and we will message you to get something sorted.

Hi - why not join as a paid subscription member then you can ask unlimited questions to the many thousands of motorhomers on here to help develop your proposed product (y) It's good that you are asking owners as many manufacturers don't consult users - crazy but true. Know that some on here have composting toilets & incinerator toilets as well as the standard Thetford & Dometic offerings. There has been some discussion about ones that separate liquid & solids but not seen any positive comments about anyone wanting one of those - is that what you are considering?
I'll start it off - having a porcelain lined Dometic toilet we are pretty happy with it apart from the height in comparison with the toilet floor so we have a foam step :giggle: Had lower toilets in the past but that meant smaller toilet tanks so always a compromise. Wouldn't want one like at home - lots of water inside a motorhome for that purpose is not desirable! Don't think toilets should be loveable just practical, durable & easy to keep clean, ideally with good capacity & designed to minimise odours.

A toilet with a automatic mechanical ventilation to outside, as you open the slider. Not the Micky Mouse sog kits with a tiny pipe and tiny fan. That would eliminate chemicals.

Ive already had a Home standard toilet in an American RV . The only downside was then having to dump several hundred litres at later date . you've set yourself a good challenge :)

Au contraire the SOG system is great, works well, does what it should. We've had one on our last three vans, never a mechanical problem and kilos/litres of chemicals not used. Fan and pipe are adequate to remove the niff and break down the you know what. A bigger fan would pull your posterior into the pan:giggle:

Why use loads of chemicals anyway? We've used 1 litre of bio washing detergent in 3 months.

I assume you already have a list of questions you would ask any potential responders, so why not just post your questions on here?
I also assume your posting was just a lazy copy and paste from a different social media format as unless you become a member you can't contact other members?
Good luck with your research though it's a pretty well saturated market and it's going to be costly to break into that market (though your post sounds more like a student trying to write a project paper in my opinion)

Complete stranger, non-subscriber, arrives on a motorhome site with a clickbait enquiry encouraging owners to get in touch to discuss the topic.

I'd be very wary about disclosing any information which might compromise the type and location of my vehicle.

Just sayin'.

The biggest problem with mine is it keeps filling up, requiring me to empty it! 🙄

That can be solved with the application of a little technology.
First, a macerator so the contents are a liquidised quite quickly to aid automated pumping out.
Then, use cameras and the AI systems from self driving cars to automatically control when it dumps.

Driving at national speed limit, the camera sees no-one behind you? It opens the valve.
The camera sees you are being aggressively tailgated? Open the valve.
Going down a country lane where it recognises the farmer has already spread muck on the road? Dribble a bit on top as no-one will notice.

Easy!

(and no, I'm not being serious :giggle:)

My main point is, why does the toilet use fresh water to flush and not the grey water thats collected
that is what the new Thetford one does although with the addition of a cocktail of chemicals.

What about one with a tank that automatically dumps when you hit 60mph. Solves all the emptying problems. Arrive at you destination with an empty tank. 😁
I fear that the low pressure area behind the van would work against that theory and could be counter productive.

I'd hate for you to waste and load of money on something that doesn't need fixing so personally I really don't think there is much wrong with the existing systems but as there is and will continue to be increasing interest in more sustainable solutions, I'd be focussing on a really good composting option

Agreed

I also think you should be very careful when convoying or with a European trucker in sight of your rear camera. May get accosted at the next driver stop.. 🤣
