About to buy a used
Hi everyone,
we are hoping to buy a used motorhome in the next weeks and are busy researching all things motorhome. My husband Ian is 'almost' retired now. He is just working a couple of days a week and sometimes doesn't work at all..... I have a few more years but only work a few days most weeks. We aee both self employed in latter years.
I am sure I will be popping up with lots of questions but just for now.....what would you say would be the benefits of joining the caravan and motorhome club....if any?

Thanks in advance
Lynne x

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
:hiya2: w2fYou'll get mixed answers there. We are members of the CMCC because we use their CL's, CL's are small sites with no more than 5 vans, & many have toilets showers etc, but much cheaper than main sites.

Hello Welcome to Motorhome Fun,
There are different opinions but I find the Camping and Caravan Club a lot better for Campers and Motorhomes and there Temporary Holiday Rallys are very good valu ;bigwelcome:

Welcome!
It's great fun, starting out on an adventure like this.
I suggest you don't rush, however. You can spend loads of cash unnecessarily whilst smitten with enthusiasm.
Take it slowly and discover, for yourselves, what you need. Everyone has a different view as to what is essential and that is just a view.
You can manage without joining any clubs. When you have a clear idea of your needs, you can choose the club that suits them best if you want.

Welcome from The Capital of the Cotswolds! (y)

Get your ‘van sorted out first - it may take you longer than you think! - and then , having read the pros and cons of ‘the clubs’, make a decision.......
And don’t forget

‘Layout, layout, layout, payload and layout’!!!;)

Hello and welcome from sunny Corby as people have said dont rush in to things and take your time deciding what you need or dont need and my advice to every newbie is decide what layout you want then rent a van with that layout so you can have a dress rehearsal which might sound expensive but could be cheaper than buying a van you think you li,evenly to find out its not what you thought I'm on my 4th van and have finally found 1 I've fell in love with

You appear to ha e a van coming so do rush to fill it and weigh it down. Go first trip bare minimum. Work out what you need and wish for and try to buy things slowly and in the sales ... eventually you take less from the house and have just van stuff. Also clothes... towels... I appear to turn into bear grills and over 5 years take less and less. Small hole all with everything and nothing more

invest if you can in IKEA tubs that stack or simila stores.. learning to be super organised means you both have a place for everything and stop asking where this is or that

We are members of CCC on a site now actually in the Forest of Dean but to be honest we don’t really use it too much. Normally use privately owned sites.

I’m not sure actually what we are paying for as I’ve never read the bumf! I know we save a few quid on bookings but probably wouldn’t cover the cost!
Welcome and enjoy the search 😀👍
