Hi All
We’re heading to Broadway (jazz hands) in the Cotswolds for three nights from Thursday staying in the CMC.
Anyone stayed there and could recommend nearby pubs/ dog walks (not too strenuous dog is knocking on a bit).

Thanks

Turn right out of the site, cross road and walk about half a mile down to the pub the Swan Inn. A bit further on the same side is the Lygon Arms

Lots of walks, if you stay north of the railway (the other side from the campsite) it’s mainly flat. If you take the road to Childswickham you'll find a very nice pub and pass the park where we live.
Broadway has at least 5 pubs/hotels and several more cafes/eating places. There’s lots of opportunities for tourists, but with that in mind, it ain’t cheap!

Russell's fish and chips come highly recommended

We were there a few weeks ago. The Crown and Trumpet is good, very dog friendly. Turn right by the Indian Restaurant (opp the Swan) about 150yds up the road. Wardens are superb, very friendly and helpful they will recommend easy walks. A good walk is to the Childswickham Inn. Very nice pub with good garden, didn’t eat their this time but will next time we go,looked superb

AH yes - forgot about that one. It is very good - Crown and Trumpet (I always used to call it the duck and trumpet)

I used to use the site as a midweek mobile office when working on the census just to get out of the house for a few days

If you like Indian food, turn right out of the site and walk in to Broadway and there is a great curry place on the right. I got a takeaway from there and it was still hot when I got back to the van, albeit I did get a bit of a clip on…

can’t remember the name of the place though, but it’s on a corner on the right as you enter the village.

We often go to Broadway, I think our favourites have all been mentioned , like others we would recommend the crown and trumpet which is very dog friendly but isn’t a gastro pub in any way, shape or form, so if that’s what you are looking for it may not float your boat.

The Crown and Trumpet used to have regular music nights ( used to be on a Thursday ?), it’s worth checking the calendar for when you are there as you would need to book a table as it’s a very popular evening.

Its a great walking area, there is always a walk up to the tower with fab views and a nice coffee shop but if that doesn’t take your fancy then there are low woodland walks which will look great at this time of year with the autumn colours.

Yes it’s very touristy but as it’s mainly day visitors once they head home it’s very peaceful.

Thanks very much everyone we’ll certainly be making use of your recommendations.

I’m hoping the weather will be kind but given we are so close to the town im sure we can shuffle around for a few days👍

Thanks again😀

Another vote for the Crown & Trumpet. A proper pub. Food is better at the Swan, but it's a chain pub, a bit lacking in atmosphere.

Its a cracking site and a cracking town , go explore and have fun!

You’ve got to go on the steam train, Broadway station is just across the road from the site. That’s if it’s running of course at this time of the year.

The regular timetable stops at the end of half-term (today). You’ll have to book for the Santa Specials. But you do get a present🎅.

Totally agreed

We were there 4 weeks ago and agree with all above but would add a visit to the fantastic Deli shop, man cave/woman cave (2 separate shops) and pet shop in the arcade for your pooch.

Can recommend this place, food is beautiful.

Super site! Catch the bus to Bourton on the
Water. Lovely town, amazing transport museum and a model village. Cafes and pubs for lunch, a great day out.

We’re here now arrived at lunch time took a walk into town plenty of interesting stores selling some interesting stuff at reassuringly high prices 🤣🤣.
Tomorrow we’re off on a 4 mile walk that takes in the Broadway Tower and then we have booked the Swan for dinner (we had a quick pint there today).
Campsite is pretty busy and pitches are nice and flat.

Could do this on Saturday but will need to check if we can take the dog on the bus👍
