It depends where you go. You can wild camp in several places on Bodmin moor. Avoid Mevagissey unless you want to pay a Kings Ransom for parking. They have also tightened up around St Michael's Mount and I believe the local authority keep a close watch. At Tintagel you can park overnight in the car park for a small fee. Other than that, the old adage applies. Arrive late, leave early and leave no footprints. I think there are a few Brit Stops although we've never used them in Cornwall.

Cornwall this time of year can be lovely, but can also be extremely wet and stormy.

I was there in September. All Cornwall County Council car parks ban overnight parking.
I have used Colliford Lake on Bodmin Moor, not the site or by the toilets, but a mile or so from the A30.
I have also used a piece of waste ground that leads to the back of the Co-op in Hayle.
You will find loads of pull-ins on North Cliffs between Gwithian and Portreath. It's NT land who say no overnight sleeping apparently, but as I'm illiterate I can't read :D

Use Pub car parks if you get desperate, worth a beer or two and say I'm unfit to drive, ok if I stay till morning ??

since 2014!
We used that ploy a couple of times during our NC500 tour earlier this year. Had a drink, asked to look at the menu, noticed the sign saying no overnighting in the car park, asked the boss if we could stay, and he says 'no problem, as long as you leave no mess!'

Porthleven car park £3.50 / 24 hours. They do not mention any restrictions. Next to a pub but they do not do food in winter. Around 6 minute walk to Porthleven where you have a good choice if you like eating out.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Mill+Ln,+Porthleven,+Helston+TR13+9LQ/@50.0891812,-5.3186145,120m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x486ad84ec26db801:0x4b853c2af4d7a982!8m2!3d50.0887816!4d-5.31655082

or head for TR13 9LQ

There are a couple of layby areas on the Mevagissey road where I have seen overnighters.
Thanks for that, but just the other side of the fence it's £2 !
Entrance just a few yards further, but either way damn good value. Note the 3 Long vehicle bays in the tarmac park where I originally parked until seeing the £2 sign. Note the short vehicle using the long vehicle bay!

I did note the £2.00 per day car park but its gated, I'm not sure if the gates are closed at night. For a little more, i think its worth paying for peace of mind.
